Restoring black plastic bumpers and moldings
has anyone ever removed the fender flares? Is it pretty simple?
On my Jeep, I prepped my plastic with light sanding and adhesive remover (not goo b gone) It is kind of like paint thinner. that really cleans the surfaace.
I then spray painted it black with 2-3 coats. Be sufre to let it dry real well before the next coat.
I then used 2-3 coats of clear coat spray paint.
It has been about three years and they still look great!

It does not "cook" the plastic as stated before. It brings the oils in the plastic back to the surface that the sun and oxidation deplete on the surface. When done the correct way it will last longer than "back to black".

At the dealer

After painting them
Does anyone know how to take off the plastic on our outside rear view mirrors? Do u have to take the whole thing off? I want to paint them but don't really know how complicated the process is. Any info would help, thanks!
