has anyone ever removed the fender flares? Is it pretty simple?

On my Jeep, I prepped my plastic with light sanding and adhesive remover (not goo b gone) It is kind of like paint thinner. that really cleans the surfaace.

I then spray painted it black with 2-3 coats. Be sufre to let it dry real well before the next coat.

I then used 2-3 coats of clear coat spray paint.

It has been about three years and they still look great!

I started using 303 protectant on all of my plastic parts with amazing results for sun protection but seams to wash off after 2 to 3 car washes.

It does not "cook" the plastic as stated before. It brings the oils in the plastic back to the surface that the sun and oxidation deplete on the surface. When done the correct way it will last longer than "back to black".

Instead of restoring my factory flares on my FX4, I took them off and painted them black instead. It's pretty simple, there are two bolts, one on each end of the flare underneath that you remove along with push pins located around the side of the flare facing the top of the tire. I went to NAPA and just bought replacement push pins since they are generally ruined when you pull them out. After you remove them, carefully pull the flare off the body starting on one side. They are plastic pins connected to the flare that hold it on. After removal I cleaned the flares and wiped them down with Sem Solve (or some other paint prep). I used Dupont auto paint and my spray gun, giving it 4 coats. That was it. You don't need to sand before paint since the flares already have that rough texture. Looks like night and day and after a year, there's not one chip on them.

Never used Black Restore, but I used Back to Black on my Mustang and about a month later it was back to faded. That's why I painted the flares on the truck instead.

Does anyone know how to take off the plastic on our outside rear view mirrors? Do u have to take the whole thing off? I want to paint them but don't really know how complicated the process is. Any info would help, thanks!
