So I bought 31mm festoons on eBay but it seems like they are a bit bigger than the factory lamps... They dont click into the housing tabs. Anyone have any similar experiences? I'm wondering if they sent me the wrong ones, I guess I can measure them...

btw, I just did this mod this past weekend. bought the LEDs from superbrightleds.com. it looks great now. all interior and exterior bulbs have been changed to LEDs. i'd recommend a thin hacksaw blade so you wont chop off much of the plastic. as thin as possible. I bought a set of 4, spring loaded clamps at walmart. everything can be bought there, unless you want to spend a little more coin and go to a hardware store.

Thanks to the op for the how to! Here are the parts I used for my 2012 FX4:
for $24.99 with free shipping.
Puddle lamps from Tasca Part number 3F1Z-13B375-AA for $21.69 each not including shipping.
Top left is stock, top right is LED, bottom left is stock, bottom right is LED. These crappy pictures do not do the lights justice, Huge improvement and well worth the cost. You can get different LED's for cheaper, I wanted to try these ones out! I also wanted factory replacements in case they did not turn out or I messed up.
*edit* I also removed the reflectors in the housings to help seat the lens better when sealing them back up, this allowed the bulb to seat deeper in the housing.
