Paint Headlights
well done exitwound,
your write up was clear and concise. the photo follow was great. i like your results, verry classy indeed.
for those of you about to do this, the painted reflector is plastic. now, anybody want to consider using a clear adhesion promoter with a "candy" topcoat? might just be something there.

Nice little write up. Yours turned out pretty good looking. I think I will be doing this to the Girl Friends factory lights and painting them white to match her dads truck so we can install them in it.
Great write up I know I used it for reference when I painted mine. This write up was KEY in my motivation to do this. It really helped knowing I had a small how to manual just in case I wasnt sure. Thanks for the write up and if anyone wants to see more results take a look at my pictures. i also did the tail lights.
Does anyone else have pics of this? Even of just the finished product. I've got a grey-metallic color and am interested in different colors, so curious to see what everyone else has? Any pics would be great.
I will say this is a huge pita but I think its gonna be worth it. I spend about 4 hours today just pryin thelights loose but kept on truckin anyway. They aresittin in my garage apart and ready for paint I got fed up with the process tonight and left it for tomorrow...hope I don't need to drive anywhere while the sealent is setting...oh damn I gotta pull all the old sealent out too which is a BITCH. Ill post pics when I'm done
I will be trying this over the weekend. I will also be adding some blue oracle halo's to the mix. I am hoping all goes well because I do not want to spend money on new headlights with scrapin' the coast right around the corner. I will post some pics up during the process.
I just did mine the other night and they look great. The hardest part for me was scraping all the old sealant off the housings. I found using a hair dryer to heat up a little at a time made it way easier to pull of long strips instead of chipping away at it. I may have gone a little overboard with the silicon, but when the hood is closed, you can't tell at all. I definitely recommend to anyone with a silver truck (or any color for that matter.)
