His post says its an 07 SCab

Yea but, if you're not measuring your truck for the length, you're asking for a bad time anyway.

 

SCab with a 6.5ft bed and a SCrew with a 5.5 ft bed are roughly the same length. If you have a SCrew with a 6.5ft bed then you'll need another foot of wire.

Either way, cord length is never really an issue. Most of the RCA cables that come with these cameras are about 20-25ft long

Ok I have a question. My video cable has a short ( 4 inch ) wire coming out of each RCA plug. Dont know exactly what to do to them, because the wire off the camera has a long red wire and a long black wire. The directions show them as power and ground. I was going to splice into the trailer wiring plug to get power from the backup light. The directions do not show the short wires coming from the RCA plugs.

Next thought, the wire coming from the head unit (Kenwood), is the switch wire. Can I run it all the way back to the trailer plug, instead of messing with any of the wires in the cab? I don't think it would take any longer this way, I still have to run the cable, but If everything attaches at the same location, it will make any trouble shooting easier. Or I think it would anyway.

I could be wrong about the short wires on each end, but I believe if you connect them with another cable it'll give you the backup lines. But like I said I may be wrong

As far as running the wire from the head unit..That's exactly what I did. I actually ran the RCA and reverse trigger wires together and loomed them and zipe tied them along the frame of the truck. Looks pretty clean IMO. Can't see the wires at all if you look for them. Ran them through the vent on the back of the cab behind the back seat to get them through the truck. Didn't take any extra time at all, probably saved some. Wired the reverse trigger wire to the reverse lights in the tail light though, but that's a minor detail.

 

Do you remember the wire, color of the reverse light in the tail light? That might be easier and cutting the wrap and digging through the trailer harness. Plus I wouldnt be laying on the ground lol
