here is what mine look like. I just cleaned mine up real well. I never did clear mine. I just used VHT nightshades, and followed their directions. they turned out great, and really added alot of style for just $12. I also did the 3rd brake light, (just like the pic before me) It does however effect how bright the cargo light, and the brakes are, BUT it is well worth it!

Has anyone done some blackout tails on a white 2002? Wonderful how-to! But now I'm wondering about the differences between doing clear tint or going with the nightshade, guess it's time to do some more research!

I think it would look sick to have white tint to match my truck right now i have clear cover with chrome inside led but white would be sick.

I too have black tail light covers. Plastic stick on's that look great but they do take away from the lighting.
They all look great.
Try HERE for covers.

This is what I really want to get.
Figure using bright LED's and paint the covers to match this. I think I will and Ill post the end results..

some i did for my buddies chrysler 300. local paint supply sells a cheaper, yet sturdy 2 part automotive clear. a gallon and quart of hardner is 35 bucks. sanded the lights with 1000 grit sand paper, mixed a teaspoon of ppg black base coat with 4 ounces of mixed clear. these lights had two light coats applied, then sanded the purple section with 600 and scuffed trhe tinted section with grey scotchbrite. the applied two coats of hok pavo purple, then 2 coats of clear to the whole light.

when mixing base coat in clear, it usually has an effect of little "trash like" specks. so its best to tint, allow to dry and then sand and re clear with just clear or tint, then immediately spray two coats of non tinted clear and just sand the specks and buff. i am a body man and realise not everyone has access to this but this is a very good way to get a long lasting finish and shine.

Hey, im just wondering if it matters if you clear coat it or not. I just went and bought a bottle here in town and they told me not to clear it...just clean the lights good and have at it with the Nightshade spray

I sprayed mine with a bottle of spray tint and went on the next day and used a whole can of clear coat in them, you can't really tell diff from them not having the clear coat
