if you use nightshade do you still have to cover with clear?

Thats awesome! I have a 4 door cobalt that I have all kinds of goodies done to it but can't find anything for the 4 door cobalt tails besides for cheezy stickers! I think I'm going to experiment with this on both my truck and my car! Awesome tip! Thank you!

To me the only way to black out the lights are to do a tinted clear. Yes this is more expensive but done right.

I have done this for my t/l on my car and a group of friends.

I have never used the VHT niteshades but I have heard that if you want it to look right you need to spray that rattlecan clear over them. And to be honest I've seen many pics of this done and them buffed and I'm still not impressed with the look. They never shine like actual tinted clear.

To the OP, excellent job of the do it yourself. I'm a big fan of DIY's.

 

if you have actually knowledge in painting...the nightshades look great...if not i suggest experimenting on some clear plastic to get the feel for the way it actually sprays on. i nightshade my tails and they look great..

 

hey guys, i randomly found a can of niteshades in my garage and if you plan on just spraying it and having the perfect result, your dreaming big time. its all in the prep of the light you are spraying and your knowledge of wet sanding and polish. I did about 7 coats on mine and did a good wet sand and i believe they turned out better than my buddies tacoma who did the black/clear combo. all i did was take some 800 grit 3m sand paper and scuff the lights, taped off the area i didn't want to be tinted, and then took a wax and grease remover (3m 900) to the area to be painted. to me they look great!
