Alright fellas, the fiddy had some HORRENDOUS waterspots etched on the glass all the way around the truck. With a little elbow grease and power tools, i haz no more. nothing but shiny spot free glass.

Tools:

2000-3000 grit automotive sandpaper
Water in a spray bottle
Compound (heavy cut or medium cut)
0000 FINE steel wool
Clean microfiber towel
blue painters tape
DeWalt buffer
Wool cutting pad

put a tape line down the middle of your window to establish a 50/50 line to help see if the product/technique is working for you.

Wet sand the glass with the sandpaper all over.
Then Dry

Now put some compound on your steel wool and go to town on the glass. use your palm to put flat even pressure on the wool. Then use finger tips to get into corners of the window

Once that is done, use microfiber to wipe off compound and check progtess/results.

Put compound on wool pad and go to town on the glass. I used 2400-3000 rpm on the buffer intermittently. wipe product off to see that you are actually removing spots. once glass is done buff to a shine with the microfiber.

Hmm interesting. Do you think just the compound and a wheel could have done it? I've gotten etched on spots off glass with just a clay bar. Those spots looked pretty bad though.

 

Not on mine as we tried it. But on new or light ones yeah.

 

What about Chrome Cleaner ive head that workks?

 

I use Zaino glass cleaner, and it removes all spotting, and way easier than all that effort above.

 

I may need to find Zaino.

Now I have my wife stealing it to clean the shower door in our master bathroom, lol.

 

Blue Coral metal polish along with some 0000 steel wool, lubricated with some invisible glass, eliminated 95% on my water spots. I had used vinegar with newspaper and 0000 steel wool, and it did nothing. Once I replaced the vinegar with metal polish, the spots dis-appeared!! Took about 30 minutes by hand to do all the windows on my Supercrew.

 

Duragloss Nuglass. Use with microfiber, terry cloth, or rag of your choice. Apply by hand like any wax or polish but use a lot of pressure. The liquid is abrasive and I do not want to chance using it with a buffer and slinging it on the paint. I have used it for at least 20 years with great results.

 

Auto Chem Systems (ACS) has a product called waterspot remover comes in a gallon jug. Pic use a paint brush to apply, if it's really bad use 000 steel wool. Just don't let it dry. It also removes all wax and polish so you're going to have to reapply on the doors when you're done.
