I followed much of this procedure yesterday (Wash, clay bar, and wax) on my FX4 purchased in December. This was the first opportunity since the winter to do the entire thing. Wow, I am very impressed! Lots of work, but some great results.

One thing I can't figure out is what I can use to coat the black areas of the truck. Mirrors, grill, etc. When highway driving here there are MILLIONS of bugs stuck to the front of the truck. I find the wax makes it much easier to remove bugs from the hood, etc and would like something similar for the back of the mirrors and the grill. This trailer tow mirrors are huge...lots of space for dead bugs!

I'll agree with Flareside......a soap and water mix should do the trick, but you'll likely have to use more of it than you would detailing spray. I personally have never used Turtle Wax products, as most over-the-counter stuff I avoid (most, not all). But if it's all you can get your hands on, it will definitely do the trick.
Thanks for all the input. Not decided on witch rout to take. But I will keep you posted withe the results.

What I do is I use Meguiars Endurance tire car the purple one, on a sponge (just a Little) it relay brings back the black in the plastic. and it lasts for at least 2 months befor it starts fading. After the application it will gather dust, but all it takes is a wash.

I am a detailer and this was a great write up, I use the griots garage ROB instead of the PC and have gotten even better results than when I used just a PC almost rotary power levels. Megs UC is good stuff.

What about the exterior rubber and plastic around the windows? Drives me nuts...it discolors and fades!

Why apply tire dressing before final rinse? Or did I miss something?
