Why H"8"TR'S Hate the Ecoboost
#11
I dont hate the Ecoboost. I love this truck so far. First ever F150 after coming from a Super Duty. Get a chance for first time to tow boat this weekend and looking forward to seeing how it handles. I think a better word would be reluctant or cautious. Todays trucks are so darn expensive. When people spend good money and have problems then they tend to get irate because they feel that Dennis Leary/Mike Rowe sold them a bag of goods. Then they feel they should have gotten the V8. Past issues with turbo chargers on gas engines havent had the best track record for reliability or durability. Some are gun shy of that. If Ford has finally solved the condensation issue with its early trucks then i see alot of people happy again and moving forward. Only when these engines all start getting to the 60,70,100k mark on mileage will the critics cease. I am hoping to get many years of joy out of my KR ecoboost, especially each time I hook the boat up and head off to the ramp!

So far, I loving the Ecoboost engine. I think Ford has a big investment in this engine as it is used in a lot of their other vehicles too. I'm hoping for longevity with mine, as I keep vehicles for a long time before getting another.

I've had my '13 EB for 2400 miles so far and I am in love! The difference in torque and power from my Titan is amazing and it drives like a Cadillac.
As many have mentioned, I do miss the sound of the V8. You could hear me coming a mile away with that Banks cat back I had haha!
Other then that, I have no complaints. The positives of my switch far outweigh the negatives. Just going from 320 miles per tank to 440+ is great!

If you want to compare it to a diesel. Diesels have had direct injection, piston cooling oil squirters, and turbos for years. The Eco has the same torque, albeit not as low an rpm, as my 01 cummins did. That's impressive
And h"8"tr's hate it when you spell h8tr wrong. Just saying.

my cousin and i both have 2012 platinums. (purely coincedental). his is white, mine is black. both ecoboost. we both absolutely love them. i have owned several f150's in the past few years, all with 5.4 v8's, and the EB absolutely blows them away in every way! i loved the little motor so much, i bought my wife a 2013 tauras SHO with a.....you guessed it...3.5 Ecoboost!!! these motors are simply awesome to me!

I'll chime in.
I didn't hate or even dislike the eco-boost before I came to the forums. What I hate is how on the forums every time there is a discussion on one of the V8s some of the ecoboost guys have to come in and tell us why their engine is better. If it weren't for those forum antics I really couldn't care less.

I have been a chevy guy since 1999, I finally test drove some 5.0 and eco trucks and I loved the torque of the eco boost. It has been a great engine so far. I have a 12 Supercrew 4x4 3.55 gears XLT its also getting 20.5 MPG on the highway with the dogs wife and kid and gear which is 2 MPG better than my 2012 chevy crew cab 5.3 and wayyyy more power. So far I love it and have had no problem here in Central to north texas
