Default What oil did the Ford factory put in my 5.0?

Dealer sent me a free oil change email and I got to thinking, what will they put in and what is in the engine right now? Motorcraft synthetic blend?

MC Syn Blend is the factory fill. It is good oil. Most dealers (that I know) use the same oil as their bulk oil, but it would be best to ask. If that is what they use then take the free oil change and be happy

I also THINK that there is also a "break-in additive" added at the factory with the MC Syn Blend 5w20 and have heard that it needs to remain until ~7500mi so if you have it changed prior to that they'll need to add the additive when putting new oil in...

Here we go again with the Secret Sauce theory!

What is this mystery additive and where do you get it?

I didn't add it when I changed oil early; should I trade now before my motor self destructs?

Owners manual specifically says not to add any additive to the oil.

I distinctly remember some posts where some people at least CLAIMED that's what their dealership told them...I'll see if I can dig them up. Note that I stated "I THINK" in my post. Do you have specific info that points either way? I'm not trying to be a buttclown (like, well..you) but just looking for facts if you got them. And I've personally noticed in past vehicles I bought new that the oil that came in them from the factory was thicker. I have not noticed as drastic of a difference (if any at all) in my F150.

Yeah. Pretty trollish post.

They filled mine with rendered unicorn oil.

Seriously though, as long as you keep it changed you should be good. If they added anything initially you don't need it now. It doesn't hurt to ask what they are going to fill it with when changed though.
