Default What exactly does the vacuum pump control?

So I just had my vacuum pump replaced under the extended warranty. It was humming in the morning and sometimes when you pulled off the interatate.

Anyways. Since I've had the truck back it's been running like a top. Two major things I noticed are very little turbo lag and a smoother idle. I've been experiencing both for a while now and have tried resetting the Kam and tps numerous times to fix the lag. No joy. Even tried a few different tunes. No hemp. You could feel a bump in the seat at idle. Now it's almost gone. Does our vacuum pumps have anything to do with either system?

Clearly. But is it tied into any other system?

Impacts only brakes, though gets clogged up from crap coming in from the cac. Catch can and drill mod should fix permanently.

your IWEs need vacuum to engage the hubs for the front 4wd. It comes from the same vacuum system as the brakes.

I thought the IWEs used vacuum to keep the hubs disengaged?

If it only controls brakes I am dumfounded why the turbos are spooling like they are and why it's driving so well.
