My reading of the latest news is that there was a fraudulent department set up to keep athletes eligible since the 90s. Whether by accident or design doesn't matter to me. Not everybody does that. I'm not sure how any other conclusion is possible given the evidence reported unless you really want to believe the mythos.

But I'm part of the fringe that believes education and research are the primary reason for universities and that we pay waaaaay to much homage to athletics and let them run the show. I have great respect for the research coming out of UNC.

I didn't even know they had a soccer team! I say all that as a bit of a hypocrite unfortunately. I love college football and that is about as dirty as it gets..... Basketball is quickly catching up from what I hear though.

They have one of the best soccer programs in the country. Won back to back 2011-2012 national championships.
