I finally got to drive one today and I was impressed. FINALLY! After reading endlessly for months on end, having Ford retract my appointment when they "overbooked" their appointments when they were making the Eco Boost rounds...

Super quite, very responsive throttle and power as well as neat turbo sound when you get on it. I drove a 5.0 right after, same route and also felt it was a great engine, too. Sounded much louder with the V8 sound...great sound...but for me I would rather have a smaller note over the next 100,000+ miles of ownership. Also, with that ownership, I should see a fair difference in the MPG's.

I was to order my FX4 today...but I live in Wisconsin and with everything going on in my state with Unions and such (I am teacher at a HS) I have to wait and see how it will affect me in all.

Not that it matters, but the 6.2 is dead silent on the open road. When cruising along you hear nothing. Get on it, and yes you hear the big v8 it is.

I needed a little more rumble in my lariat limited so I installed the muffler from the magnaflow raptor system and deleted the resonator. Guess what? Its still quiet when cruising and sounds glourious under full throttle.

I drove the eb the other day. It is awesome. I have an eb flex which I love as well. I just need some rumble every now and then!

OK to answer the question NO they are not all the same model, how do I know this is because there is NO MODEL THAT OFFERS ALL 4 ENGINES! ALSO the engines don't weigh the same so unless you are putting them on a scale and putting weights in the bed for the smaller engines, your not going to have exact weight.
So if you want to discount the research for that fact, its your call. I do know the 6.2 had 22 inch wheels and the ecoboost had 18's. They did get the trucks in a similar configurations as they could (remember they weren't sitting with an order sheet buying the trucks). The 5.0, 6.2, and 3.5 were all SCREWS and the 3.7 was a SCAB. The 5.0 had 3.31 rear end, 3.5's had 3.15 and 3.73 gears though didn't say which they used for the speed test but I imagine 3.73 in the FX2, meanwhile the 6.2 was a harley davidson which has a 3.73. So if the 3.5 was in a 3.15 rear end it would be even faster in the 3.73. The 5.0 would give the 6.2 a run for its money but I don't see it beating the EB. MY POINT in the graph was the three upper engines are VERY close in performance and that was just one graph I had come across but when reading all the different reviews and data out there it is pretty much consistent with this graph though usually they aren't comparing all 4 engines which is why I chose this one cause it did. And it wasn't done by Ford so its not drinking Ford's cool aid as someone put it. Every test has some variance, but this seems to be real world testing that is close enough for me. Again if you want to be exact then your probably gonna need to use a computer program to run your hypothetical tests or build your own trucks, find a robot to drive the trucks (cause drivers will vary in hight, weight, reaction time, etc), not to mention balancing the weight distribution to be equal for all the trucks, etc etc etc. So if you want EXACT then I cannot provide you the information and don't know who could. Want independent real world information, hey I can help you out. Just don't knit pick it, don't like the info fine, see if you can find something better. Thats kinda the point of the board is to share knowledge and learn from each other, not to ask a question and try to blow holes in it and say there could be a big difference.

Point is if your looking for the EXACT same truck, EXACT same features, then you will never find it because IT CAN'T BE CONFIGURED THAT WAY.

*sigh* ok, going to get off my soap box now. I am not mad at ya for having an opinion, I encourage it, just irked me the way you came across with it (may not have been how you intended it, but that was how I read it). So no hard feelings lets just move on to another discussion

Just asking questions to understand the data. I'd like to see the 3.5, 5.0 & 6.2 all in Screw with 3.73 and 20" wheels. I think they all come like that, right?

Yes that would work. You can get an XLT S-Crew with the 1st 2 engines (5.0L and 3.5L EB) and 3.73LS Rear-end, but to get the 6.2L must upgrade to Lariat. If you wanted to include the 3.7L, however (which you didn't ask for, but is on the chart from above), you would need to go with an XLT Supercab or below. Also, 20" wheels are available from factory for XLT and above.

I agree that to show a true scientific comparison, the same rear end gear should be used as well as weight added to each truck (positioned as necessary to approximate the added weight and center-of-gravity of Lariat w/6.2 engine). Also, the 6.2L, to be fair and keep as many variables equal as possible, should not use premium fuel. Premium is what gives it a HP advantage, and is recommended but not required for the 6.2L. The only thing left after that, as I see it, is the torque & HP curves, and transmission shift points, etc (which are likely to be to be set a bit different between engines).

Then... let's race!
