Of course, I won't ever say something like that without having proof to back it up.

This shows a comparison of all 4 engines on 0-60.
Also to compare the new engines is this graph

Not to mention my personal expierience testing the trucks. I am NOT knocking the 6.2 that is a mean engine and it sounds it, to me the EB is just the best all around engine. As far as speed, you can see the 5.0, 6.2, and 3.5 are all very close when it comes to actual performance. I have noticed that anytime I look at the performance results (with exception to the torque curve where the EB just wins over either of the other engines, though all three are great engines). The only real stand out with the new engines is the 3.7 and it not a good stand out. It lags behind in every event other than fuel economy.

PS to give proper credit the graphs come from pickuptrucks.com

That graph is very interesting. The 5.0 is faster than the 6.2 to 20, 30, 40 and 50mph. I think the 5.0 is a little underrated to help with sells for the EB and 6.2

Rougeknight...you should start a thread with those graphs. I think a lot of people would find them interesting.

Very interesting. Why would anyone opt for the 6.2 over the 5.0 or the EB? Wonder if the test same gear ratios & near same truck weights, models.

I looked on pickuptrucks.com, but could not find if these were with the same gears, weights, models. That could make a big difference.

Couple reasons, the 6.2 does have more hp and torque. Plus have you heard the 6.2 lol it sounds awesome (I like it but prefer my truck be quieter). It is a beast of an engine. It also gives you bragging rights. To me if your hauling a lot of weight all the time then I would go 6.2.

All things said and done I prefer fuel economy as it's my dd plus a quieter ride and I prefer the diesel like torque curve and the get up and go is nice. As I said before I prefer the eb but that's just my preference. If I needed more than the eb could do I would probably go up to the f250.

For me, it was the only motor offered in the HD edition. Plus, it has the most horsepower / torque and it just sounds awesome. Gas mileage is a non-factor for me. Company pays.

I don't see how the comparisons could be completely equal. You can't get them configured exactly the same, with the only difference being the motors. Most 6.2L motors will be in the Limited or Harley. Those 22" wheels will definitely be a little slower compared to 18" or even 20". I guess the Platinum is the only model that could be configured pretty close, but you have to get the Max Tow in order to get the 6.2.

"BIG DIFFERENCE??"
OK to answer the question NO they are not all the same model, how do I know this is because there is NO MODEL THAT OFFERS ALL 4 ENGINES! ALSO the engines don't weigh the same so unless you are putting them on a scale and putting weights in the bed for the smaller engines, your not going to have exact weight.
So if you want to discount the research for that fact, its your call. I do know the 6.2 had 22 inch wheels and the ecoboost had 18's. They did get the trucks in a similar configurations as they could (remember they weren't sitting with an order sheet buying the trucks). The 5.0, 6.2, and 3.5 were all SCREWS and the 3.7 was a SCAB. The 5.0 had 3.31 rear end, 3.5's had 3.15 and 3.73 gears though didn't say which they used for the speed test but I imagine 3.73 in the FX2, meanwhile the 6.2 was a harley davidson which has a 3.73. So if the 3.5 was in a 3.15 rear end it would be even faster in the 3.73. The 5.0 would give the 6.2 a run for its money but I don't see it beating the EB. MY POINT in the graph was the three upper engines are VERY close in performance and that was just one graph I had come across but when reading all the different reviews and data out there it is pretty much consistent with this graph though usually they aren't comparing all 4 engines which is why I chose this one cause it did. And it wasn't done by Ford so its not drinking Ford's cool aid as someone put it. Every test has some variance, but this seems to be real world testing that is close enough for me. Again if you want to be exact then your probably gonna need to use a computer program to run your hypothetical tests or build your own trucks, find a robot to drive the trucks (cause drivers will vary in hight, weight, reaction time, etc), not to mention balancing the weight distribution to be equal for all the trucks, etc etc etc. So if you want EXACT then I cannot provide you the information and don't know who could. Want independent real world information, hey I can help you out. Just don't knit pick it, don't like the info fine, see if you can find something better. Thats kinda the point of the board is to share knowledge and learn from each other, not to ask a question and try to blow holes in it and say there could be a big difference.

Point is if your looking for the EXACT same truck, EXACT same features, then you will never find it because IT CAN'T BE CONFIGURED THAT WAY.

*sigh* ok, going to get off my soap box now. I am not mad at ya for having an opinion, I encourage it, just irked me the way you came across with it (may not have been how you intended it, but that was how I read it). So no hard feelings lets just move on to another discussion

1. Paragraphs. It makes it easier to read.

2. Does anyone know the weight difference between the 6.2 and the 5.0 & 3.5?

A "common" belief is that 100 lbs = 1/10th in the 1/4 mile. So "IF" a 3.5 and a 6.2 are putting out "similar" numbers, and the rear end / tires are similar, the 3.5 should have an advantage due to the lower weight.

Just my thoughts / stirring the pot.

I drove an EB today and I couldn't hear any turbo sound at all Other than that, it sounded like any other V-6 I've driven. Personally, I'm a function over form person. I really don't care what it sounds like as long as I can haul a bunch of weight or drag a big trailer. For long trips, I prefer something quieter.

I sure liked seeing that 3.7 hit 7k.
