Awesome. Thanks for the clarification. I've had a couple of 09-14 f150s, but this is my first eco. I had a 3.7 (surprisingly snappy little engine) and a 5.0 (my preference). I'm just a bit paranoid about things with all the reading I've done. I know there's millions of them trouble free, but my luck I'll have the one that grenades.

Yep. Don't get caught up with all the negative posts. Like you said there are millions that are trouble free. We have these forums for people with issues to assemble and figure them out. Pretty rare someone signs up for an account to post all is well.

I have a 2014 5.0 V8 Platinum myself, but i always heard/was under the impression the EB cam phaser/timing chain failures were due to fuel diluting the oil/fuel contaminating the oil?

Built, that's why I asked. Ford specifically requested that timing chain wear be added to the upcoming ilsac gf6 oil certification test, and replacement of the timing chain is included in the tsb. Di engines are characteristically hard on the oil due to fuel dilution and soot. I'm interested to see what the oil makers to to meet ilsac gf6 requirements.

Is this mainly an issue with the early ecoboost motors, and would this be something that would be covered with an esp? Did some reading on the esp and didn't see anything seemed like it should be covered under that plan.

It happened on my '13.
My esp covered it. All I was out was the $100 deductible. The ESP also put me into a rental vehicle free of charge.

It encompasses all ecoboost engines 09-14 and I think it even has happened on the 15 and 16s.

I'm not sure about your esp but I would re read or talk to a rep for it.
