The first two or three oil changes typically show high silicone levels due to the use of RTV sealant. They should drop over time and yours did. If they go back up, look for the intake problems mentioned above. Use K&N filters at your own risk. You are trading clean air for a neat noise.

The internet brings out the best of us...AITG..I dont think i would be giving out info on OA if you dont understand what the analysis is about..

I am talking about the element Silicon which is in dirt..abrasive..

You mention something along the lines of Silicone..not the same..

You mention trading clean air for noise..My OA exhibits very little dirt getting by my KN.and into my engine .how do you expain this...why bash KN if you dont understand?

My apologies for incorrect information. My source is Polaris Labs:

From their website:

Silicon (Si)
DefinitionSilicon is a contaminant metal detected with Elemental Analysis by ICP (inductively-coupled plasma), which detects up to 24 metals, measuring less than 10μ in size, that can be present in used oil due to wear, contamination or additives. Wear Metals include iron, chromium, nickel, aluminum, copper, lead, tin, cadmium, silver, titanium and vanadium. Contaminant Metals include silicon, sodium, and potassium. Multi-Source Metals include molybdenum, antimony, manganese, and lithium. Additive Metals include boron, magnesium, calcium, barium, phosphorous and zinc. Elemental Analysis is instrumental in determining the type and severity of wear occurring within a unit.Standard Test Method Usedmod. So after posting this...do you understand what the difference is between Silicone and Silicon(SI)?

2 different things...

Better yet..getting back to topic..can you explain why I have a single digit Silicon(SI) present in my OA when running a K&N intake for 40000m?

And I had single digit SI level OA on a 7.3 from 10000m-122000m?

I can explain it..cause I understand the Pros and Cons of K&N filters..

Blackstone says the same thing.....

I am right at the universal average... still worth looking into.

If it was really an issue Blackstone would have mentioned it.

I really want to have a super sparkly day just to know what it feels like!!!!

I'm glad you 'get it'...I tried. We are all entitled to our own opinions but not our own facts.

"Have a super sparkly day" sounds so much nicer than what I was thinking.
