UOA Results
Starting this thread for owners to share and discuss UOA results.
Post your UOA results including Engine year model the oil manufacturer, type, weight, and filter used.

New to 4,827 miles on oil. 4,827 miles on unit.
Factory fill, factory Motorcraft FL-500S filter.

Some assumption here in attempting to build a list of engine components and the associated material elements for the 3.5 EB.

Block: Aluminum
Cylinder Liners: Cast iron
Crank: Forged steel (additional nickel and chromium)
Rods: Forged steel powder metal (additional nickel and chromium)
Pistons: Aluminum cast hyperutetic
Oil Pan: Aluminum
Head gaskets: Multi-layer steel
Exhaust Manifold: Steel
Intake Manifold: Composite
Intake Cam: Billet steel

Traditionally copper is used as a portion of the material used of the crank and rod bearings. I've not been able to confirm this on the EB.

I would suspect the copper is coming from a plating off the piston skirts. I believe they have a coating on them. If it is from rod or main bearings trouble will ensue soon then latter because to get to copper the main bearing material is already gone from one or more of the bearing load half.
It will be interesting to see if the copper amounts continue to decline as the motor ages ?

Thanks for the comparative numbers. Yours is running clean and strong at 88k miles. You like me had the same high copper and other metals at break-in. To be expected I it seems. What matters now is it stay clean for many more miles.

KJ...I would look a little bit at your intake and air filter..your silicon is too high at 20+ppm..
I, like you two guys had averages out the window and was going to tear my engine apart..but finally at about 40-50k miles I got my silicon down to single digit and held it there since...But then I have the KN CAI, which everyone says it passes alot of dirt..
When I had the OEM AF..I would just pull the top off without removing the pipe..when I reinstalled the top, it was not in the right position and did not seal well, so I learned I had to remove the pipe from the top..install the top, then install the pipe...to get it to seal..This is a good place to look for a leak..
I personally dont like to see above a 5ppm silicon level, and thats on a 10000OCI..
I am running a 10000m OCI as well..no fuel oil dilution as well...I am going to go higher like a 12000m OCI..cause my numbers hav stabilized and see if the oil can handle it(M1)..
If you pull your top and it has any dirt on the clean side, then its passing dirt..Also check the sealing surface for a seal mark all the way around..I have used grease to seal this surface to see if it sealed any better in the OA...
I know this is a PITA for most people but worth it if you are going to keep truck long term..Single digit is obtainable..and good for proper engine operation..20 is the limits..
