It is generally a good idea the let any vehicle stabilize temperature-wise before you shut it off if you have been working it hard. I don't think the Eco requires any special treatment.

When I was driving powerstrokes, I'd let them idle for a minute before shutting them down, just to let them spin down - but maybe with the new trucks you don't have to worry about the bearings anymore.

At the very least, I'd make sure to change my oil on schedule, and keep clean filters in it.

What a useless reply. This is a forum for sharing opinion MrSunshine.

The owners manual for my Cummins had a cool down table in it showing cool down times depending on how the truck was used, such as "long haul heavy load - 5 mins". There is nothing in the manual for the Ecoboost referring to cool down. I still let it cool down out of habit with the diesels, but I would think Ford would put something in the manual if they thought you needed to worry about the turbos.

I suspect that no cool down is required. For one thing, it would be in the manual. And this is a vehicle marketed to the masses, unlike the SD's. The average guy on the street isn't going to be bothered with a cool down, and I'm pretty sure the designers take that into consideration.

Go to Ford.com site and go to truck video section and watch "ecoboost:durability" video. The video says the turbo cools itself after shut down by using non mechanical siphoning of motor coolant.

My F-150 has a 5.0 L V8 but I drive a transport truck for a living and it has a CAT C15 with twin turbos. I'd recommend watch the clamps on the air-to-air hoses (engine to charge air cooler and then back). These clamps have a tendency to get loose after a while and when they do, you will lose boost and fuel mileage. At least that's how it is in my big truck.

Default Just one more thing

i really do listen to most the folks on here, I’m in sales which means I don’t know a lot. Oil changes,a little cool down time after a hard run are all are good ideas, but 1 other thing I’d like to stress, keep the air box clean and free of debris and a clean air filter. I drive like a grandpa cause I am, but every once and a while I like showing a Silverado/RAM/Tundra owner just what a little 2.7 Ecoboost can do, as I leave them at the light! The other evening I had a Silverado sitting on my tail and a very slow Frontier in front of me, as the Frontier finally pulled off the road I nailed the 2.7 Ecoboost and the Silverado was left in the dust, Lord how that makes me smile!
