Default Truck Fixed! Unbalanced Drive Shaft...

Took my 2012 F150 to the shop for a vibration issue at a certain speed (mainly between 35-40 mph) they had it at the shop for 3 days trying everything to fix it, Got a call today from the service manager and they ordered a new drive shaft. They took one off a truck on the lot and temporarily put it on mine to see if that was the problem, sure enough it worked! The part is on order and I'm picking up the truck tomorrow. Thank goodness, It's still a shame I had to drop a $40K Truck off for warranty work w/ only 1600 miles on it. Atleast the dealership and service manager were helpful and stopped at nothing to fix my problem. In the end that's really all you can ask for. Hopefully this helps some of you guys.

Good to know that you are going to get it fixed to your satisfaction........but remember when you are cruising down the highway at 75 mph......every part on your vehicle (and all those other cars on the road with you) was made by the lowest bidder!
It's odd how suppliers can sometimes let a major part like a driveshaft leave their factory out of spec.

Sounds like good service to me. That's what I would have done.

Great to hear! I know there is another post somewhere on this board where the dealer tried that and still had the same issue.

***UPDATE***

Picked the truck up yesterday and all is well The vibration is 100% fixed. Smooth driving through the whole RPM/Speed Range. So if you are having vibration issues recommend this "Fix" to your Service Manager. Hopefully this helps my fellow Forum Members. God Speed and stay boostin'

Did you have a vibration when coming to a stop as well? When coming to a stop, I have a vibration/shutter that I (and the dealer) thought was caused by the truck holding 3rd gear too long before downshifting to 1st. A Ford engineer tweaked the tune a little bit and it didn't seem to help. My truck has been in the shop 4 times for this issue and I'm thinking it's something mechanical but not sure what. They tried shimming the driveshaft which also didn't work. I was thinking maybe it's the driveshaft itself or maybe the torque converter..?

Yes, I had a vibration when coming to a stop, but it was only during a specific speed range.

That's how mine is as well, From 25mph down to 17ish mph. I'll have to take it back in. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! What's the wheelbase on your truck? 145" or 157"?

I have the 145" wheelbase. The vibration would only show through that speed range. During acceleration, braking and cruising. Hope this helps
