That's the direction I would like to go. Get the regular cab w/5.0 and add some Roush pieces or Ford Racing / Borla exhaust sold at Ford.

you're misunderstanding it.
if you buy it after the truck purchase and/or install it yourself, the blower and other roush supplied parts are warranted by roush, but if you buy it and have it installed on your brand new truck by an authorized roush installer/dealer THE ENTIRE thing is warranted by FoMoCo/roush and the factory truck warranty is still intact.
the only stipulation aside from this is it must use the Roush tune, not an aftermarket tune.

Straight from the warranty link provided by gDMjoe:

WARRANTY COVERAGE
When a ROUSHcharger® Kit(s) is correctly and completely installed by a certified Ford automotive technician or
automotive service technician certified by the Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) on an eligible, legally
registered and licensed vehicle with an operational odometer, ROUSH® will cover defects in materials and workmanship
during the Warranty Period, as solely determined by us.
Below are those vehicle components covered and not covered under this warranty:
• ENGINE COMPONENTS
COVERED: Pistons, piston rings, piston pins, crankshaft and bearings, connecting rods and bearings,
camshafts and bearings, timing chain and gears, intake/exhaust valves and seals, valve springs, oil pump,
push rods, rocker arms, rocker arm shafts, and lifters. If a failure of any of these parts damages either the
engine block or cylinder heads, a remanufactured long block assembly will be provided up to the maximum
coverage of $7500.00.
NON-COVERED: Those engine components specifically not listed including, but not limited to, parts, filters, etc.,
that are required to be replaced as a part of the vehicle’s normal maintenance schedule are not covered
under this warranty.
• TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS
COVERED: Torque converter, oil pump, governor, bands, drums, planetaries, shaft(s), sprag(s), bearings, shift
rail(s), fork(s), and synchronizers.
NON-COVERED: All-wheel drive vehicles are excluded from transmission coverages under this Warranty.
Failure of related parts external to the transmission that cause a transmission claim, including but not limited
to, transmission coolers, levers, controls, etc., void coverage under this warranty.
• REAR AXLE COMPONENTS
COVERED: Rear axle, ring gear, drive pinion, pinion shaft, side gears, bearings, bearing cap, washers, slinger,
axle shaft, housing and housing cover.
• TRANSFER CASE COMPONENTS
COVERED: All internally lubricated parts of the transfer case are covered under this warranty.
NON-COVERED: The transfer case housing is not covered under this warranty.

If the dealer finds a tune on any other vehicle they could void the entire powertrain warranty. I've already accepted that I do not have a powertrain warranty, all those that have tunes either have or should have accepted this fact too (except as stated below).

Exactly. Some very lucky few might get away with it depending on the dealer. Ford seems to be on the up and up with checking for tunes with engine failures.

So if you have a buddy that is a Ford tech come to your house on a Saturday and install it for beer and steak does that count, lol ?

I like my eco, but looking at this now...I could have had one fast truck for what I've dumped in so far.

That is what I did with my 2007 F150 FX4. Installed it with a Master Tech in my driveway. Called Roush, they asked for his ASE Certificate number and that was it! Actually, I forgot to call and Roush called me to get it.

Roush has been nothing but EXCEPTIONAL service on everything I bought from them.
