Default Transmission acting crazy on tune.

Ok so I ordered a sct tuner with custom tunes from Mike at 5 star. Have not had the truck tuned a week and transmission has been acting up , like I put it in drive and go to take off and look down and gear selector says I am in 5th gear did that a couple times but I put it up in park and back to drive and that seemed to fix it. Now I go to take off after stopping at a stop sign and it don't change out of first , so I pull over and am now returning to stock. Any ideas what's goin on ? Truck has not been tuned a week and I have not been ******* it at all as a matter of fact I picked up almost 2.5 mpg on first tank with it tuned.

Simple lesson, don't tune your truck.

My Ford Service guy basically told me, who do you think has the better software, Ford, who spent millions with a team of the very best engineers out there, or a guy or two on their own in some garage somewhere. Made sense to me.

When you download the tune don't mess with any option at first it will ask you but just say no and just download without any modification

I didn't I don't think but adjust tire pressure for tpms that I actually wanted to turn off. That would affect the trans tune I don't think .

If ford really had the best engineers, there would not be threads on here like "Condensation in the IC, 55-65 mph shudders, Another ford update, and so forth. That being said, there are tuners out there that have no clue and those guys could do some harm but most can tune as good if not better than ford. There have been threads about some of these trucks not shifting right. Ford can't seem to fix them but when a tuner is applied, its fixed. I haven't seen one thread on here that claimed a tuner ruined an engine or transmission. The diesel truck tuners can basically add more power until the pistons melt so maybe that is what your service writer is going by. Service writers are preached to by the mfg on adding aftermarket items. Some drink the koolaid some don't. On my own truck I can get better mpg, better shifting, less soot in the exhaust, and yes, more power from a tuner vs stock.

Op- Flash to stock drive it for a while. If the problem still exists, take to ford. There have been a few folks with the same symptoms. The fix seems to be some sort of sensor on the trans and/or a software update.

Weird, mine never did this. I would find someone with a high end scanner (like a snap-on bi-directional scanner), and return it to stop and clear all the codes with the scanner. Drive it for at least a week then take it in to ford and have them
