Transmission ?

I read an article, dated about the same time Ford announced the 4 new motors, that said Yes, all 4 motors use the same tranny. The 3.7 gets a different/lighter clutch pack, and the shift points are "tuned" different for the different motors, but the rest is supposed to be the same.

Makes me wonder what else they changed?
“The F-150 has a diverse set of customers, so we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach when matching the transmission to the engine,” said Bryant Grytzelius, 6R80 transmission engineering manager. “With the 3.7-liter engine, for example, that particular transmission has fewer clutch plates compared with the other engines. Everything is sized accordingly for optimum driveability, performance and fuel economy.”

I like my 3.7, but the 3/4/5 mush fest is annoying. It seems very indecisive and seems tuned for optimum smoothness, which is a lot of inefficient slippage.
Wonder if there is a solution to firm things up a bit. Looking for the same effect as what they used to call a "shift kit" back when everything was hydromechanical.
