Some pics of old engine, 92-93000 miles.
#1 Is intake valve condition, some carbon, not severe.
#2 Old engine
#3 Exhaust leak, new manifolds were installed. Mechanic said the old ones were definitely warped.

Truck is back in one piece, mechanic wants to test drive Saturday. I will be out of town, so will pick up on Tuesday after holiday.

Okay, I got the truck back on Sept 5th. Here is some of the paperwork, I still don't have the final papers with the costs on them, service said they would mail them. I also have the e-mails from Ford ESP to the service mgr instructing them to check the cams for scoring. They wanted pics of truck, underside, drive tires, mods, license plate, exhaust system, and valve train.

Truck is running great and is getting better gas mileage now, +2 mpg estimated overall.

2 New exhaust manifolds, 1 turbo controller, and misc parts.

Also talked them into replacing the vacuum pump while it was right there and easy to access.

Only good words for Anderson Ford.

Looks like you made good use of that extended warranty!!

I think normally dealer parts are warrantied for two years, does that apply in your case as well?

I think all of my warranty is up at the end of this month. I'm probably going to extend it to 150,000 miles.

You left your cell number on there BTW.

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see a TSB number?

Yes I realized my cell # was there yesterday, oh well.
Don't have a TSB, truck went to dealer for timing chain rattle at start-up. Dealer confirmed rattle and the project escalated from there.

My guess is Ford is starting to see some sort of pattern among Eco and wanted your engine to study.
It is certainly interesting.

That would be correct and it benefits future eco owners with a more robust power plant.

I just find them looking into the camshaft area interesting since I had mine break. Maybe something is wrong in that area...

Likely, of the 11 years I worked at a Ford dealer there were a quite a few instances where they wanted parts returned for further investigation, one time we had a customer towed in off the interstate with a brand new Lincoln Mark 8, only had 8000 miles on it and the engine was seized.

They told us to close the hood, give the owner a loaner and they flew an engineer down the very next day, he verified the locked up engine and they sent a truck down to pick it up and bring it back to Detroit or where ever they test things. Yes the entire car, not just the engine.
