Ok that's understandable but it is covered under warranty if it's a 2014?

It's covered under the 5 year 60K mile warranty. Mine is a 2013 I purchased used. I had it done in August at 53K miles. Never opened my wallet.

Will extended warranties cover the work as well? My truck is a 2013 and I'm going to roll 70k in the next day or two. Thanks.

Possibly, read your warranty.

Depends on your warranty but if you bought a CPO truck it should be covered. I just got my truck back(2013) Saturday from having the 16-0027 TSB. My truck was having the rattle intermittently. The week I took it to the dealership it made the noise every morning luckily. I had video evidence but was told they needed to hear the noise themselves which I think is bull****. I eventually pretended like I wanted to trade the truck in on a 2018. I don't know if it was coincidence or if that had some effect on them but I got a call the next day saying they heard the noise and would repair the problem. They ordered parts on Tuesday, I picked up my truck Saturday. The covered the rental as well for a week even though CPO warranty only covers 5 days supposedly.

Yes, my truck was CPO. Took it to the local dealer today. They told me a bad coil could make that noise. I've made an appt with the dealer I purchased it from. I was trying to make it convenient for myself but don't think I'll go back there again.

Lol, I had the same experience. The dealer I bought from is about an hour away. I have three dealers with 15-20 minutes of me that were *******s just on the phone. Called the purchasing dealer, they were able to get me in earlier, told me they would have a loaner waiting for me, and when I arrived the service adviser told me first thing that it sounded like a cam phaser issue. I had a print out of tsb 16-0027 with me to give to them. They seemed appreciative and actually wanted to take the printout from me.

Edit: FYI CPO warranty only covers a loaner(rental) for five days and the first day is not covered. I somewhat made a stink about that and when they called to update me on the situation I was nicer about it and stated that if there was anything they could do to help me out with that aspect I would appreciate it. When I picked up my truck they covered the entire 8 days including the first day I had their loaner

Was part of that 8 days waiting for parts? That seems like a long time.

Maybe two days? Dropped it off Friday, Saturday who knows if it made the noise, Sunday service department closed, Monday afternoon get call stating the heard the noise and would order parts and would have parts on Wednesday, Thursday they tell me it would be ready Friday, get a call Friday afternoon(late afternoon) that tech is staying late to finish, pick up truck Saturday morning.

I haven't noticed it as much after oil change.
Only once so far but it was more uh muffled I guess. Quieter.

I looked at my paperwork the phasers were not changed with the engine rebuild but I do have the newer timing chain.

Also the passenger head they replaced none of the spark plugs will come out. Going to raise hell over that because driver side head factory plugs come right out easily 68k miles...
