Timing chain rattling, is there a permanent fix now?
#11
...I keep finding posts about people doing some TSB and then the issue returns right away afterwards.
Does whatever fix Ford have for this issue actually fix it permanently now?
Am I going to hurt the engine by driving? Possibly been having timing chain issue for a little bit but I've been remote starting all summer.

There were a series of TSB fixes for this problem before 16-0027 that didn't replace all the parts that 16-0027 does. I think it was primarily folks who had these earlier TSB's performed that had problems with recurrence.
I had 16-0027 done on my truck just before it went out of extended warranty, no problem with re-occurance.
PS, even with the need for the TSB, absolutely love the EcoBoost. Wouldn't even consider trading it for a 5.0!
As for driving it with the start up rattle, I seem to recall that there are a few folks that have been driving there truck out of warranty for many, many miles without any additional issues.

I agree I'm very happy with my truck. I thought the camshaft breaking would be my only issue with timing. Haven't had time to check my paperwork yet to compare part numbers to the new tsb.

Well I've not heard a thing but smooth starts all week.
Monday morning and evening and Tuesday morning then nothing but quiet. It was really loud on Monday.
I'll admit I don't know a lot about the internals of an engine but does it take time for it to adjust to chain stretch? Like it was little loose then adjusted so it's tight again and I'm not hearing it?

It has to actually have the problem for them to do the work. As noted throughout this thread, some have managed to get it done with video evidence. Others like me had the videos disregarded and it had to be heard in person at the dealership.
