for those of us with ecoboosts getting less than advertised mileage.

I am SOOOO @$%#%^ tired of smart *** responses like this. Total asinine idiocy.
I have crew cab, lariat, normal stock tires, no lift and my lifetime average is 12.4 MPG. I drive the thing like a freaking grandma most of the time, BARELY pushing the accelerator (maybe 1/2 inch, just enough to feel the slightest resistance).
Heck since I bought a truck, I guess I should be happy with anything above, oh, lets say 6 MPG???
Nevermind the freaking advertisement and sticker telling me I should be getting 50% more than what I am. I think 50% off is a bit more variation than is reasonable.
I get 16-18 on the highway, HW miles reasonable, it's in town where it BLOWS.

You'll probably find you'll get better mpgs by not babying it so much on start ups. Give it some gas, get up to speed and into higher gears quick, then back off and let it cruise at speed. Then look ahead and coast a little sooner, coasting to the stops. It sounds odd, but with these newer engines and transmissions, that works best for me.

I agree with Ford850. Seems like when I baby the truck it gets worse mileage. When I get down on it to get up to cruising speed quickly I get better gas mileage.

People are finally catching on. It takes the same amount of fuel to accelerate a truck to 60 whether you do it in 6 or 60 seconds. Maximizing coasting is the key to improving mileage. The energy isn't wasted until you turn it to heat in the brake disks. Drive like your brakes cost $1 every time you touch the pedal.
