So, if you just hit reset on your instant-o-meter and stomp on the gas pedal quickly, your instant mpg will drop quick. Mine will do a lot better highway vs city. My normal work commute I can get 18mpg with a tune.
Yes, we get that your truck is normal. We are talking about trucks not getting that kind of mileage, EVER. Yes, I have never achieved avg mpgs higher than 18, ever. And before you start in on how I must be driving comments, you better talk to my cruise control because its in use all the time. Here are my numbers currently, 14.1 avg mpg for the last 457.3 miles, hand calc 14.1367. For the last 1893.4 miles 12.3, with about 250 of those towing getting 8 mpg.

So I go to the dealer the other day to get some warranty work done and ask him about the mileage issues. He said he would look in to it. He calls me back and says the tech drove it and got 18 on the instant read out and the truck is within specs, plus the tire I have on (BFG AT 275/70 18) would have a negative effect on your mpg. I said that I understood that, but larger tires shouldn't account for a 17-20% deceased mpg. He said there is nothing wrong with the truck so he can't fix anything, conversation over.

Other than the mpgs I do love this truck, its just a love hate relationship.

I don't use cruise control because I feel that it'll burn whatever gas to maintain speed instead of economy. My foot and eyes can see that instant meter better than the cruise control.

I went for the third time to the dealer and said that my truck is not running fine MPG wise. They redid the MPG test, I ask them to reset the trip computer and follow them with a brand new 2013 with the same equipment as mine (the dealer let me take a new truck to proof what I said).

Results:
-They get 16mpg for the official test (flat surface, no wind, no hill, at 55mph)
-13.9mpg for the overall trip
-With the new truck following them I get 21mpg (trip computer)
-Dealer said: your truck definitively have something, but we don't know where to check because we don't have any codes or clues and your truck is withing spec as per ford test so we don't have the right to work on it on warranty to find where can be the difference.

I'm at the same place as before, but now my dealer know that there is a difference from truck to truck and will try to push ford to work on my truck to have the right to find the root cause.

I have had mine now for almost 3months and the best I can get is 17.4 MPG. I gapped mine to .032 like someone said and it got alittle better but that's about it. I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong or what I have to do to help me out.

This is a great test and I'm glad you did it. Hopefully the data will make its way back to headquarters and get somebody's attention.

20,000 miles......trip B says 16.5mpg w/3.73 gearing. Can get 20mpg with wind behind me but driving into it will show 15-16. Still probably 1.5-2 gal better then my 2008 Nissan Titan. It is what it is I guess. You want power you get poorer MPG.

No I was not drafting, I was at least 4 cars behind...

Today I have install the OEM remorte starter and went to the dealer for the final setting with the ford IDS (5min job). I talk to the mechanic who did it and tell him what I told you (bad mpg), he said buy a "china ids" and I'll by glad to find your problem after job hour by my own at 10$/hrs. He said that during normal job hour, they don't have the right to pass more than 30min. for bad mpg complaint, and in 30min. they only have the time to do the MPG test ford require.

You know what... the IDS is on is way now (225$ with dhl shipping include and software at aliexpress)

I'll let you know what we can find. He also said that a OEM truck is supposed to boost at 14 to 16 psi, my truck life peak is 12 stock and 16 with sct. (sct is not on the truck for 2 months now until I find the problem)

lower than normal boost isn't going to cause a fuel economy problem, it would be the direct opposite. Mike at 5 Star in the economy tune of his purposely limits the boost to about 3psi so that you gain 2-3 mpg. More boost = more power= more fuel sucked
