I believe Click and clack are incorrect in this instance. That makes no sense, why would only a few EB owners be experiencing break in problems?

Her truck is in the shop right now for routine maintenance, I'm still not home, we diverged paths after the first 500 miles or so, and I went to work. The dealership said they have no clue why her mileage was bad. Checked her air filter etc. (I've already done so as well) I'm going to have her load the tune on it this afternoon and see how mileage is with a tune before I get home. Documented mileage has been about 16.3-16.5 for her around town runs. Now it's not as bad as some of your trucks, I have been able to get that video game on the dash to show 20+ driving short distances , but I can get my truck to show 24+ on those same drives.

I haven't been able to get better than 14 mpg since I've had the truck (11 months and 7700 miles). The only thing I've done to change it from stock was slightly larger tires - from 275/55/20 to 275/60/20 - BF Goodrich All-Terrain KO's).

I knew the change in tires would affect the mileage, but I thought it would just be 1 to 2 mpg. I haven't been able to get the computer re-flashed to recognize the larger tires, so the 14 mpg I'm getting should be a little higher - since I'm actually driving more miles than with the smaller tires - right?

Should I get the system re-flashed to account for the new tires, before I take it to the dealer to have them check out the engine?

Bingo.

Not should be higher.......... IT IS HIGHER.

Problem is i dont even see an all terrain listed in the 275/60/20 size. I did find a 275/65/20 and that tire is QUITE A BIT larger than your stock tire....... over 2" taller........ which will make a big difference. You are actually traveling more miles than your odometer indicates.

That's what I thought. On second thought, my tires are the 275/65/20. Thanks for catching my error. How much more mpg do you think it might actually be?

Another reason I need to buy a tuner to get my speedometer and odometer corrected.

Did some quick math and for every 500 miles your stock tires spin 326,000 times. For that same 500 miles, your new tires only spin 305000 times (theyre larger/taller). This equals about 35 miles that youre not seeing on a 500 mile trip-- that is to say... your trip meter will say you traveled 500 miles when you ACTUALLY travelled about 535 miles.

That means your truck is doing about 1.4 mpg better than you think... so 15.4mpg vs 14mpg.

That may not seem like much but remember you are also turning a heavier/wider tire which will hurt your mpg.

If it were me (and ill be upgrading to E range All terrains soon myself) id probably be happy with ~16mpg combined with that tire combo.

My first 500 miles has been somewhere around 19, most of my time is spent on 2 lane roads at about 60, I think my truck will do better than that, because it has sit an idled a lot.

I have a little over 500 miles on my truck at this time. I did a fair amount of highway driving today and the highest it has shown at this point is 14.9. I'm not happy at all at this point. I'll give it a while if it doesn't improve I will be calling the dealer. Thanks for all your time and work. I'll be watching this thread.

I drive a mix of highway and around town getting 17 hand calculated. Could no be happier but i also was counting on 16 when bought the truck. I look at it like this I have all most as much power as 6.2 but I'm getting 16 mpg not 12. I think people are expecting to much out of a full size truck. People who run out and buy a new truck because it's gets better mpg are nuts. The money it cost you to get a new truck I bet could have paid for many years of fuel.

Good point. Still, I'd like to know my actual mileage and mph.
