Here is something to chew on

Here it is guys, what more proof do we need that this **** makes it into our intercooler?

Here is a video of me emptying it after 130 miles of sub-zero temperatures.

Here is after it settles (different time but it always settles the same)

Here is what it looks like after it evaporates out:

Here is what the stock charge pipe had in the bottom of it when I upgraded to the AFE Bladerunner:

Here is what someone else had posted that they pulled from their intercooler:

What can we say for certain? What the catch can is catching is the SAME crap in our intercooler.

We can speculate that the catch can is catching some (I would venture to guess most) of this .

Yep. I'm right there with you on this. This HAS to help, if not eliminate the CAC condensation issue.

I was watching this thread closely since I got my truck in Sept-13 (built same month)

No mod for now, only 6000km... I pulled my RV trailer once a weekend in Oct-13 and really happy of power and general driving since.

It's mosty my GF who's using it week-days commuting 20km each way... no highway drive, lots of stop and go, daycare, school, traffic, etc.

Every week-end I take it, I make it sure to WOT once or twice when engine is warm enough and to make sure no water accumulate in IC...

It's winter here too with lots of snow and temperature yo-yo... -30C at some point... regular is between -20C to -5C and sometimes +5+10C for a day or two.

Seeing this video and pictures, on a 2013, really afraid me.

I bought this truck for the tow power yes, but also for reliability and now I'm afraid.

Issues were supposly fixed in 2013 but apparantly not...

I'm really tempted to install this catch can but there is 2 drilling in turbo intake pipe to do and I'm concerned about warranty claim if something wrong... (just like the hole in IC too).

What do you suggest ? I want to keep this truck for years but also doesn't want Ford to denied warranty (I got a 7 year powertrain extension)... Here in Canada, there is no Lemon Law, nor special act or anything like US.

I tought of cleaning the IC output regularly just by removing the coupling, tilt IC and clean up. Problem is I don't have a garage and winter is more problematic...

I also heard that 2013 as moved the blowoff valve down closer to IC out making my solution not only more difficult but also "useless" maybe?

I'm still under the shock of this cocktail pooring from the catch can!!! But I know also that a good part of it would have been burn back in engine right...

You could buy the RX cans and install the cans like I did. Order the OEM style fittings from UPR to save your factory PCV lines. This would be the easiest way to go back to stock. I would suggest high capacity cans as well.

Mrpositraction: that is insane and incredibly concerning. I am SHOCKED that that stuff is flowing through my engine. This seems like a ticking time bomb. I also bought a 7 year extended warranty so I'm not drilling anything but I guarantee if I get close to the end of it I'm selling this vehicle.

This video and these pictures should be made a sticky at the top of the forum.

You guys with the cans who are catching the huge amounts of water and goo, do you all have tuners? Looks like a few do.

The ecoboost is an awesome engine in design and engineering. The flaws are shared with most manufacturers as these are not $200-500k plus vehicles, corners are cut in areas due to the budgetary constraints imposed by management. Most of the issues are easily fixed/remedied and this still makes Ford one of the best trucks on the market period.

Anyone wanting in-depth technical info on this issues and others, I am willing to spend the time and share 40 years of automotive engineering here. Just ask, if I don't know I won't pretend to as that just adds to the confusion and misinformation on so many forums, but this is my expertise and Mr. Positraction stays in close contact with me so feel free to ask questions and I will give the best answers possible.
