What an idiot. Ask him why tow/haul doesn't automatically lock out 6th if that's what is required to protect the transmission.

I agree. I asked that. He said that was with any vehicle. I have had a lot of trucks over the years and do a lot of towing and I've NEVER heard such a thing

Sounds like it is just Ford/The Dealer not wanting to take responsibility or making excuses for their "fixes" not fixing anything.

Agreed. It's one of those things that a dealer will brag about when selling, how this truck stays in 6th even in TH mode. Then when a problem arises, they spin that around and question why you would be so foolish to leave it in 6th.

Well, add me to the CAC fail group. My truck has now gone from slight shudder at ~57MPH on hills and decel from 60-50MPH, to absolutely NO power and throwing a check engine light on day 2 of driving after the fix. The truck felt as if it was running on nothing but motor, absolutely NO sound from the turbos as all. Pretty sure after two different 3/4 throttle hits from about 60MPH on the highway, all I heard was blow off. Can't imagine something wasn't reassembled correctly with the CAC replacement. Both ins and the out tube were tightly secured to the CAC. I'm beginning to wonder if they forgot to flash the updated strategy... When I picked the truck up, my in dash display menus weren't reset as they have been in the past. So, I immediately took the truck in and demanded a rental vehicle in the mean time. Half an hour with Ford customer care, a new CAS#, and a understanding Service Writer later, I'm sitting at home with a Toyota Corrola in my driveway, waiting to hear from the dealer. Truck's about ready to go out the door... This is my first new vehicle purchase, and as of now, it'll be my last. What good's a warranty when nothing gets fixed?

You have a warranty so you don't have to pay out of pocket for them to not fix it.

X3! I've pulled a 5,500 lb RV trailer thousands of miles in 6th gear with no problem whatsoever. And, thankfully, no shudders, stutters, CEL's, stalling, . . .

I haven't looked, but wonder what the owners manual says about towing and 6th gear. Show that to the service manager

It's not anywhere that I can find. Arguing with someone that is painted into a corner won't change anything. What I've learned through this process is that a lot of these dealers are selling vehicles as consignment from the manufacturer. Some of the older dealers own there's still, therefore they seem to have more skin in the game to help you when you buy it. The service mgr from earlier today is beholden to do as he's told by ford. He shouldn't have said what he said but if the dealership could've done anything for me it would've been done long ago. I just don't have any respect for a company that chooses to place blame on the user of their product, BEFORE they ever look at the problem.
