I see your from Maine sorry I have the condensation issue also. started at 3000 miles. Don't do it all the time. prob about a dozen times since I bought the truck. I have almost 17000 miles on it now seems worse with the we are having right now 50s and rainy I live in central maine.

Do you drive conservatively quite often? I ask because it seems like people that are into the boost more frequently aren't as likely to have this problem. But that is just speculation from what I've read about this problem. BTW, what dealer did you buy your truck from? I got mine from Bailey Brothers in Livermore.

Normally I'm in the boost alot but and it has happened locally, but it is worse when I'm on a long trip trying to get good gas milage its when I go to pass someone and floor it. happened twice this month 1 trip to moosehead and 1 trip to the Fryeburg fair. Wiscasset Ford just did the reprogram and deflector but had to wait on the deflector and when I went to Fryeburg I had the reprogram but not the deflector and it still did it but the check engine light didn't stay on like before.

Has anyone reported this issue while towing? Can't remember any posts.
If not, that would certainly help prove the boost helps theory.

Yep, best case scenario: night time towing 5000lbs with wife and three kids. After 200 miles in heavy rain @ steady 60, out of highway for kids break, and the truck died on me when trying to merge back in traffic.
There was a truck oncoming so I floored it and it started to shake and would not go past 1250 rpm's. The sad part is that, instead of being fully concentrated trying to manage the situation, I had to pull iPhone out and film to have proof for the dealer!

I have experienced the loss of power due to condensation in the charge air cooler while pulling a 28 foot travel trailer in the rain. According to a local airport the temperature was 27 degrees C (80.6 F) with a dewpoint of 22C (71.6 F). I didn't weigh on this particular trip but based off previous measurements the combined weight of truck and trailer was over 12,000 lbs. The truck is a 2011 Lariat with a 3.55 rear end and has the deflector installed on the CAC.

Given the right set of circumstances the problem can still occur even when pulling a load on a 70+ degree day.

Actually the only two times it happened to me is when I was towing. Once was about a 200 mile trip, towing a 6x12 enclosed trailer with 3,000 lbs. You could watch the instant mpg gauge drop from the start of the trip to the end, when it was at about 10 mpg. I was traveling about 75 mph on this trip at night, it had rained a few hours earlier and temps dropped 25 degrees between our starting point and when I pulled off the interstate for gas. Filled up and while pulling back on I accelerated heavy to get to speed and it lost all power. For a while after the instant mpg was a couple mpg higher, then started to fall again. I didn't accelerate heavy again til 2 days later after towing the trailer through fog a couple times...and again it lost all power upon heavy acceleration.

If anything I think towing makes it worse as you are pushing more air through the intercooler, causing an even larger amount of condensation.

So I guess that throws that out the window. You would think that more boost while towing would keep it cleaned out. There has to be something else going on with this.

So even though all intercoolers condense water, and there is water in there, based on previous posts, could this still have nothing to do with water?

Could the 'shaking like truck will fall apart' followed by 'falling in its face' be engine knock followed by limp mode? Could it be an injector issue?

And if so, why isn't Ford able to detect the limp in the ECU history?

It did look like limp mode, but I had no lights on and no code found from the dealer. Later during the trip, though, I felt it was on the verge of doing it again. I then progressively increased throttle until I felt it was coming back. Did this couple of times until was able to floor it. Really looks like there was something to get rid of, so I relate to the water in the intercooler thing.
