Well I had the fix done Deflector plate, right Cat and flashed
took a 800 mile oneway trip and it is as bad as ever.

I have a claim with corporate Ford as I suggest everyone do.

I emailed my customer rep and told the story how I drove 800 miles today 8/9/12 and it misfired worst then it did before the fix and this is the email I got back.

Ford is re-investigating the concern on the Eco-Boost and the current repair with the deflector plate. This has just reopened for Ford to look at
so it usually takes about 90 days for Ford to investigate. Ford is looking into a new repair.I need you to go to the dealer, due to engineering is seeking feedback on the vehicle. I would need to have the dealer do a hotline contact to engineering.

I really wonder how many have this problem but don't know about it because they don't put the miles on in one trip ,it takes me about 200 miles or 3-4 hours to start to act up

I have everything done... PCM updates, intercooler shrowd, cat converter... and all has been good until coming home from TN thursday in the rain. I almost got rearended by a semi due to loss of power. Stopped into Ford dealer asap, they updated the PCM again... I left and within an hour it was loosing power and the check engine light was flashing or just staying on. I took video of everytime it did it. I am tired of wondering if my next trip in my ford ecoboost truck will be last day on this earth! I love my truck and have enjoyed the ecoboost in the dry weather but my life is worth more than just some fun!

How bad this is it seems Ford is waiting for someone to get killed.

I have had a few close calls with almost getting wiped out, yesterday
seen my life passing in front of me trying to move out of the way of 2 tractor trailers. I really kick myself for not getting the 5.0

I do feel like a fool paying a extra price for a motor that will end up killing me.

Default Reply fix for TSB intercooler fix

I reply back on page 33 and seeing all the replys since then makes me wonder what Ford is thinking. I have talked to factory rep. several times without any concerns from Ford. I think some of the owners on this thread feel the way I did. (This new truck is going to end my life if I don't take some action.) I took a big lost by trading in my truck for a 5.0 but what is $10,000 dollars vs have a wreck and worst case, be killed. The only reason I stayed with Ford was I had installed $7000 worth of Acc. Equipment and they gave that back to me. I got a feeling that someone is going to get hurt, and it they die because of this no one will every know that this cause the problem. Like I said before this happen to me 5 times in 4 months twice could of been bad, I was lucky. I hope someone from FORD that cares, is reading this post. Good luck EGO BOOST fans out their. My 2012 ego boost F150 that I traded in, which they know why I traded it, is at Champion Ford 45 South Houston, Texas.

I cannot stress enough the importance of registering a complaint with the proper authorities;

In the United States of America;
https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

In Canada;
https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur....aspx?lang=eng

Though I agree that filing official complaints with NHTSA and BBB is wise, consider your relationship with Ford "finished" once you do this. Of course, it was their lack of responsiveness and frankly cavalier attitude toward the whole thing that caused it but now Ford service departments won't return my calls, schedule appts., and neither will Customer Care. So, it will basically guarantee you will be forced to lemon law which I have now started.

Pretty sad as I still say that for three months this was the best truck I've owned . . . yet every single problem I've had in multiple trips has been can not duplicate, no CEL = no problem, considered normal operation, and losing 5mpg is within some acceptable bell curve of acceptable mileage.

In the end, you have to protect yourself and your loved ones. That's the most important thing . . . as Ford has proven to me that they literally do not give a *****!

I (so far) have not felt the shudder as I have before since this latest TSB. I've felt 2-3 very small bumps when climbing up a hill at the usual 56-58MPH, but I think that can easily be attributed to the road, not the truck. We'll see what happens when a good rain storm rolls through.

just an update.... truck still in shop, Ford said to replace the cat and air filter????? they just replaced the cat less than a month ago. I think they are clueless. Strikes me funny that I stopped in a Ford dealer in Knoxville, TN and he updated the PCM and said eveything else was fine and then 45 minutes later the problem reappeared... Just wondering when the massive recall on these trucks is coming? Must be they are waiting on enough accidents to warrant a true fix.

Had the 12-6-4 applied, only the shield and the flash update....Did not need anything else since when I had misfires I did not try to floor it but rather took my foot off the gas, since when the three times it has happened my life was not in immediate danger.
I have followed this thread and a few others and the issue is definately condensation. The 12-6-4 is a marginal relief, meaning it slightly raises the bar or point at which the engine will misfire by increasing the temp of the IC and also changing the shifting behavior(downshift) to increasae RPMs if condensation is noticed to burn it up without misfiring or shuddering. If you are in a very humid condition, the marginal relief is not enough and even after 12-6-4 you can have misfires( I have)...be careful when using cruise control for extended period in humid conditions.
Where do I think this problem goes from here? Well first the truck is great, the gas mileage is awesome at 21mpg at 67mph for me with 3.73 6.5 4x4 fx4...19.5 at 80...Just be careful until the resolution to the problem is implemented. Get the 12-6-4 so you are on their radar and estimates of what it will take to implement the fix in terms of cost etc...they may even put you to the head of the line. In My Opinion, the fix will be a retrofitting of some sort to the existing IC, and in the longrun they will use the newly designed IC(the patented one) in future model years of the ECO.
Any opinions of what could be attached inline or on the IC to get the "job done?"
