If you're getting knocking or pinging, there is something else going on. I would suggest pulling the plugs and checking the gap, and possibly going to one step colder plug with a tighter gap. I recently went to NGK LFR7AIX Iridium plugs (as others on here have suggested) gapped to 0.030". My OE plugs were all 0.040 - 0.045" and I would get hesitation, stumbling and occasional pings from even the factory tune. Now after the plug change it's smoother with no pinging whatsoever, even with the SC tune.

The Ecoboost is pretty finely tuned engine. There are so many variables, that when any one is modified, can really throw things out of balance. You can't expect a canned tune to work for every engine and combination of aftermarket parts and just work perfectly first time out. I would suggest trying a little harder to make it work. Furthermore, if you just rely on what aftermarket vendors say you will get for results, you are asking for trouble.

You can't just throw money at modifying a vehicle (though it certainly does take alot!), it also takes some common sense and knowledge of what's really going on in your engine...

thanks for your insight,Just so you know before I installed the tuner the truck had no pinging or rattle, when I returned it back to stock it runs better then any tune on the tuner, And I shouldn't have to do things to my enigne to make this tuner work it was designed for my engine, superchips have had nothing but problems with it,wont update like it's supposed to and does not perform any where near what they claim,

I FINALLY was able to load the SC 87 tune to my wife's truck. It now has the crazy BOV operation like my truck had about 3 updates ago. And I'm using the "high altitude" setting.

Great work SC, great work...

You know, I really don't mean to come across as a jerk. But, I am beginning to wonder how many of you know what a BOV sounds like in the first place.

Well, it is a different sound from stock...it's just the way they are modulating the BOV I guess. It kinda sounds like a big rig now :-)

Normal BOV operation is what I suspect you're hearing.
