I would like to go with the off road style but here in California we have to smog every other year. So to eliminate being totally illegal I would go with the catted version. I guess my main concern is the catted version will take away the turbo whistle that I'm going for.

Nope. Cat whistle is very clear and quite cool with the HF cats.

Just finished installing catted downpipe exhaust is stock, cool sound & whistle throttle response is much better.

I have SW catted down pipes and ws a tube turbo cat back and it threw the CEL. I know a tube will correct this but I bought a factory 150k extended warranty. Also with cel on I can't use remote start. I know a tuner will solve both problems but want to stay away since I already have 70k miles. Is there any way to fool the sensors and get rid of the CEL light. I've been putting up with it for 5 months and it's driving me nutz.

You could also try o2 sensor spacers.
