Default Stainless Works EcoBoost Dyno RESULTS!

Mike over at 5startuning.com had time to play around on the dyno with our full Catted downpipe and S tube muffler system. (he also has an album with the MBRP 3" catback and catless downpipe... Needless to say we are happy with the comparative results!)

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...7552400&type=1

STOCK UNTUNED TRUCK WITH STAINLESS WORKS CATTED DOWNPIPE AND S-TUBE (STRAIGHT THROUGH) CATBACK SYSTEM
-87 octane (More power to be had with Premium)
-Peak HP gain of 20 rwhp. Gain of roughly 10 rwhp throughout the entire RPM band
- Peak Torque gain of 30 ftlbs. Truck gained about 25 ftlbs of torque throughout the whole RPM band

SW CATTED DOWNPIPE AND S-TUBE CATBACK WITH 5 STAR 87 OCTANE TUNE
-87 octane (Additional 20-30hp to be gained with Mike's PREMIUM OCTANE tune)
-Peak HP gain of 28 rwhp. Gain of about 20-25 rwhp throughout the RPM band
-Peak torque gain of 85 ftlbs. Truck gained about 60 ftlbs through the entire RPM band compared to stock

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

Torque is our friend!

While Peak numbers are great to talk about (and we did really well with them), they almost do not matter. What matters is how much power you can add throughout the entire RPM band and this combo knocks that out of the park! This is where our 3.5" system shines over the less appropriately sized 3" or 4" systems.

Without a tune, this system adds about 10hp and 25 ftlbs through the rpm band.

With a tune, the exhaust opens up the big end and allows for an extra 20 ftlbs of torque between 3250rpm and redline compared to a 5 Star tune with a stock exhaust . Horsepower is up an extra 10-15 after 3250rpm as well!

Wow!

One of the best sounding ecoboost exhausts I've heard and LOVE the turbo whistle. Definitely in my future to get one of these on my truck.

I think what people would like to know is if the catback alone adds hp/tq. We all know that hp is gained with the larger downpipes. Thanks so much for posting the numbers for the downpipes. That helps everyone out that has done downpipes.

Great gains considering the downpipes are catted. Any results for uncatted?
I too am curious with results from just an aftercat. As that is probably what most people are going to do.

any chance you guys have a graph with 87 tune with just the catback, compared to 87 tune+ catted downpipe+catback. I'm planning to do the catback first and just wondering how much I'm missing out if I dont do the catted downpipe at the same time...if anyone could post the install instructions that came with their downpipe would be awesome

We think so too!

The cats are our high flow metal matrix 200 cell performance cats. Same ones we use on the GT500, CTS-V, and ZL1 Camaro. Their thicker substrate walls were designed with high horsepower and boost in mind so they fit the application perfectly. We have them living behind 700hp monsters!

At EcoBoost power levels, our Cats are a near-zero restriction. The offroad downpipe might pickup an extra 2-4 horse power but we wanted to test what the average consumer was going to add to their truck.

I will see what I can do about getting Catback ONLY results.

Does the catted downpipe set up throw a check engine light being so high flow?

I know the mustang system with high flow cats did.

Also, how hard is the install on the downpipes? Doable in a garage?

do.
Stainless Works is installing an offroad downpipe and S Tube muffler catback on my 12 Ecoboost as we speak and soon as I have some time free, I will be doing some dyno testing with it as well and will post up the results then so can see how much the offroad downpipe changes that. But as Jason said, prob be just a few horsepower since their high flow cats flow so well, I primarily wanted the most aggressive sound I could get out it it!

We have not gotten enough feedback to give you a definitive answer BUT, I would definitely recommend some sort of tune to make sure you didn't have any worries. PLUS the extra 60 ftlbs of torque with a tune seems more than worth the added expense.

This is a simple install. You could do it in your driveway, no problem.

You say Cats are a near-zero restriction. What is the restriction number of the cats also is the pipe a full 3in all the way cause it looks like from the flange it steps up to a middle piece that steps up to what looks to be 3inch but at the flange back to the middle piece it looks smaller than 3 inches looks like 3 different pieces of pipe welded together
