like I said, my car does this too, specifically on the right side.

It became louder after the exhaust and intake spacer... perhaps not enough 2013+ owners here to chime in.

First they thought turbo was bad....can't tell its an exhaust manifold leak till the turbo is off....or you can see exhaust residue someplace.

It is common for the exhaust manifold gaskets to blow out. Not enough retainers there to hold them tight.

Great news, timtoolman; I'm glad I was able to help!

For those of you who are also experiencing this, the best next step is to have your dealership inspect. If you need my help after your visit, send a PM my way with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll see what I can do to assist.

The bolt pattern for exhaust manifold is odd....5 bolts if I remember correctly with a big gap in lower right corner(bottom facing cab).
If indeed the exhaust manifold is leaking I'd bet a dollar its from this area.
Mine was very obvious from exhaust residue left on cabin engine wall.

Thread I started on my squeal...

Murdr, mine makes a similar noise, I think. I would guess mine comes from the left side.

One questions, though -- mine only does it when it is warming up or the first time I've gotten on the turbos, it seems. If I try it over and over, it won't make the noise after the first couple of times.

I have a 2013 Eco 4x4. It makes a chirping sound when I am at 65-70 and hit the gas. It sounds like it is coming from underneath my left dashboard/floorboard area. Sometimes it is louder than others.

I drove it to the Ford house the other day when it was louder. I did not shut off my truck on purpose. I asked if a tech could ride w/me. They told me they were busy and if I could leave it. I advised them I did not want to leave it because they might not hear what I was hearing. They told me it would be about thirty minutes. I shut the truck off.

The tech drove w/me. It still made the noise, but a lot quieter. I was like damn! I promised him sometimes its a lot more audible. He said don't worry about it until there was an issue.

I understand engine noises, turbo noises, etc. This noise does sound like a 2013 truck should.

Anyone else have the noise that I am describing?

Again, mine is on the left side. It happens in 6th gear going about 70 miles an hours. It sounds like it is coming from the left driver's side (somewhere). It sounds like a quick chirp. Sometimes it is more audible than others.

Thanks,

Al

I am so glad I found this thread.... I made a thread a while back about this and didn't find anything. My truck is making the EXACT same sound from the drivers side. It really sounds like an impeller hitting a housing rather than exhaust leak. However, it does make sense that it could be an exhaust leak. I guess I will do some serious inspecting soon to see if I can find evidence of it. BOSRO was replacing the manifold NECESSARY or was it a precaution?

Here is the link to my thread with the video of the sound. Hopefully this is the issue and I can get it changed soon.
