Default Ecoboost turbo chirp

I have 64k miles on my '12 ecoboost.. I have full exhaust and I am running a jms 93 octane tune. The other day my truck started making a chirping noise randomly on acceleration. It sounds like it is coming from the driver side turbo. It doesn't do it all the time, especially after the truck warms up. I figured it may be the wastegate issue I have read about, so I changed tunes with no change in the sound. Here is a video, you can hear the turbos spool and then the chirping starts.nhttp://s179.photobucket.com/user/mys...f6a2c.mp4.html

I've heard that a few times and haven't been overtly concerned about it.

I've never heard it more than 4-5 times. Only at 3/4 throttle. I always thought it was a air leak that was causing something to flutter. Check the videos in my signature for the huffing sound that you do not want to hear.

Did you ever figure out what it was? Mine is making the same noise randomly on acceleration (3/4 throttle sounds about right). For some reason I notice the noise in third gear but that could be coincidence. Truck is in the shop right now for diagnostics on the issue but I'm almost positive I will get the same "It's normal" answer and have to pay for diagnostics. Will try and let everyone know when I hear an answer.

I haven't gotten any answer on it yet. Called ford and they said "those trucks have a whistle sound to them that's normal" and I just shook my head knowing I wasn't getting anywhere with them. If you come up with anything please post it in here.

It is difficult to tell from the video, but if it is louder when the truck is cold, it could be a premature sign of immanent turbo failure...it is referred to as the dentist drill symptom and happens when shaft play is present and the fins of the turbo start to scrap against the side of the compressor housing.

If you can take another video and send it to me or call me, I will be glad to help you diagnosis the problem.

Hi lightjs and Kittrell87,

I'd like to step in here and do what I can to help. To get the ball rolling, PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll research some options to assist.
