You know I had a rental BMW 328i direct injection turbo and it had no soot at all ! Makes me wonder if ford is just dumping to much when cold to warm up the cats ( I have read that it does this) I really think this could be tuned out.

Hrmmm!

Would be very interested in this. I drive almost exclusively short trips and get horrific mileage (avg 13.0) and do NOT have a heavy foot.

Well Geno you are the man with your finger on the pulse of all the latest Ecoboost tech. I'm sure you would know who to ask to get this done.

On another note related to this. I alternate my vehicles when driving. For one week I will drive my truck on daily commutes and longer range trips. During this time I see 18.5mpg mixed. The next week my truck only sees 10 mile round trips. During that time my average mileage for the tanks drops to 17.0. Speeds are 55 during this 10mile round trip but the engine never gets up to temp. I'm sure you have the right idea that its running a little rich until it reaches 180. It would be nice if that feature could be tuned out.

Lol !!! I'm not really that in touch.

I do get some info before most but not like you think. I can hit up Geoff he has a direct line to SCT I will see if he can get any info on making something like this happen.

I know it will be 2 weeks or more before I have anything as they are scrambling to get their race car ready for the Arizona shoot out. Their full race awd r14 with an rb26 skyline motor is one hell of a sweet ride

I will be down at the shop on the 22nd so I will talk with them then. I know he could also ask a ford engineer to get an answer as he has a few that he works with regularly.

Geno
