Default So who tunes their own stuff here?

I ask this as I am new to Ford's computers. In the past and current I suppose I purchased EFILive and learned to tune my own stuff...... wasn't ever really interested in being reliant on some external source for that kind of work. It's not for everyone...... or most people honestly regardless of manufacturer of vehicle you buy.

But now I am here and kind of wondering if anyone else here tunes their own truck? SCT's software really isn't that expensive to buy and looks to be the tuning suite a lot of tuners for these trucks use. I wish HPT would support this platform but as of yet they don't and who knows if they ever will.

Anyone?

The only one that supports this platform so far is SCT....HP Tuners is currently in beta with the 2011 up Mustangs and F150s. They have a bunch of mustang reads so far, but as far as I know the only 2 attempted F150 reads have come from me. Kinda hard to get support when nobodys coming forward.

Livernois has that AIW thing but then that is exclusive to them and not offered for personal use. HPT is kinda dragging feet lately as they are doing the same thing with Chrysler stuff too. Beta's but nothing that really does anything.... not that I have a Dodge to tune anymore anyhow lol. I might just go ahead and buy the SCT and see what I can do.

Having a lot of experience with this software and knowing all of the pitfalls now, you will be nothing but frustrated if you decide to buy the proracer package...if you want more info, just PM and I can fill you in...

Just thought I would save you some heartache before you spend your hard earned money...

I've tuned my TBSS (EFI Live) and WRX (open source). I wish there were more options than SCT.

I dunno....... I work with some *****ty software lol. You can't get much worse than a lot of the dcs systems I deal with. I know SCT supposedly sucks but when you have no options so be it.

If you buy sct, you still wont be allowed to do everything because you have to pay for and take their special classes to be allowed more access....Not the case with HPTuners.

I worked with magnuson (hpt) in 2011 to try and get support for the EB and made no headway because of the new LSA engines they were working on. they are very GM biased.

Most good tuning is gm biased... its why I generally run gm. I just can't stand the new trucks..... or the 07-13's so I had to get something else. I will do whatever it takes with SCT. I am not paying somebody to screw around and or screw up my truck lol. Look at the tuning wars threads on here and any other forum for that matter.... not interested. I guess another option would be cmr through Diablo.... but I made a pledge years ago to never give that company a cent and will likely stand behind that.

I'm not looking for tuning advice... or a tuner to buy from... just interested if anyone does their own. But my best guess here is no. Thanks.
