Default Skid Plate holes

I have a 2013 with the off-road package, the front skid plate has 2 rectangular holes that are open. Are these suppose to have a rubber gasket or rubber piece that is suppose to be in there to cover up these holes. I read here that some people have them and others dont. It says in book there suppose to be there, any feedback on this?

I was gonna go by dealer and see if they carry in stock, but if there a suppose to be there and wasnt put in at factory or at dealership as part of there responsibliity.

You will waste more time trying to get them to admit that something needs to be there that's not, trying to find the part, seeing if they have it or when they can get it, and getting it scheduled to have them install it. I'd leave them alone if it were me. It's not going to hurt anything. How big are the holes?

there about a 4inch x 4 inch hole in 2 places on the front skid plate. Big enough for rocks and debris to get in there. If there suppose to be covered up with a rubber gasket, then i would like to insert and seal these areas off. I can put them in myself. the whole point of skid plate is to protect not be swiss cheese and have holes for things to rocket around like a marble in a jar. No big deal, I wouldnt have even looked if someone on these threads mentioned it and i went out and checked mine. Sometimes its better to not know LOL!!

centexguy, just called dealer and there only $5 piece so i ordered them. I would rather have something there and close the hole then leave it open.

For sure. $10 is worth not arguing with the dealer to get them to do it for free.

Better yet that factory skid plate is about a POS so just replace the whole thing... Joshp767 on the forum sells them. They are far better than the factory piece of barn roof tin...

clayslayer, i probably would swap out the skid plates if i ever did any off roading, an occasional dirt road but those days are gone for me. The truck had the off-road package already so i look at it more as debris/rock control and protecting underneath. This tin seems to be ok, other than the 2 holes they left unplugged. 2 pieces of rubber and at least they will stop the ave debris from bouncing around under there. Trucks only 2 weeks old, give me a year or two and if there dented to hell then off they go and better tin will take its place!!

I don't have plugs on my skid plate either but I have never thought about plugging it up? I've never had any issues with debris and not sure how a rock could jump up the small holes. I know alot of people remove the skid plate altogether. I've thought about it since I take it off every time I change the oil.
