Unfortunately a lot depends on the dealership...obviously yours isn't customer friendly. When my plugs cracked, my dealership replaced them with no questions asked.

Don't replace the coil just yet. Start with the plug and then replace the coil. I feel that there are way too many coils being replaced when the problem is a bad plug. Heck, don't even replace all of the plugs. Just the one that is misfiring.

I replaced the one coil and one plug the night it happened, and all the plugs (gaped to .030") a day later.

Replacing all the plugs made a noticeable difference @ idle.

For the record my premium care esp brochure says that ignition coils are covered under that warranty. Still not sure about the original powertrain warranty though.

Must be covered under emission warranty then. I have a 2012 Eco with 75000km on it had a misfire dealer just replaced all plugs and one coil under warranty without a fight.

I just looked up on the O'Reilly site, and a Motorcraft coil, was $67.99 across the counter. (And I feel that ALL of those those Auto parts stores are HIGH to start with).
