SCT 3015 Tuner for Ecoboost Review compared to Superchips
Ok, so I got my SCT from 5star last night. I registered the tuner on Sctflash.com and checked for updates. It was already up to date.
Before I say anything more, I will let you know I had the superchips tunes installed, and am familiar with those. I actually did like the blow off noise I got with the SC tunes, and MPG, and power, and had no issues with SC whatsoever. I returned my truck to stock for 3 days before I installed the SCT and man did that suck... my truck felt like it had aged 10 years! Stock tune the truck was slow again, slow to respond to gas pedal, slow to accelerate, slow to pass on the highway, etc... needless to say, I missed having a tuner.
The tune is now installed. It took about 6 minutes start to finish.
Comparison of tuners:
1) The SCT does not give you the option to lower cooling fan turn on temps which the Superchips did
2) The SCT does give other options that the Superchips did not like modifying idle speed, max RPM while in neutral, max RPM in Drive, more speed limiter values, and modifying shift MPH by gear change (1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, and 5-6).
3) Updating the SCT is 10 time easier than trying to update the Superchips. No error messages, or driver issues. SCT updating program is much better.
My thoughts: a better tuner box with a better interface than the Superchips, plus the ability to install 3 more custom tunes.
Tune Impressions:
1) SCT 87 octane tune has *****... on moderate acceleration I chirped the tires going into 2nd gear. Never had that with the Superchips. Flooring it will chirp 2nd and 3rd gears.
2) Shifting is similar to the Superchips, but the SCT shifting seems more "confident" if you can call it that. I wouldn't say more firm, but it seems like it takes less time to shift gears than stock or with the Superchips. The SCT will hold gears a little longer than the Superchips did even on hard acceleration. But, on lighter acceleration it shifts earlier than the superchips did (could be because I programmed all the shifts as -3mph). I think this will result in better daily driver mpg, but I can't comment on that yet.
3) Very light turbo sound. More sound than stock, less sound than the Superchips. I kinda miss the WHOOSH the Superchips gave me, but the SCT is a better tuner.
Overall, I'm very impressed. I ordered from 5star, so I'm getting a free tune when it's available.
I'll post more info as I get it. Next up is a 400 mile highway run to compare mpg.

After speaking with Mike today for about 30 minutes, I ordered mine. I really like the factor that you can tow up to the trucks limit with all the tunes and do not have to change them to tow. He said the highest the EGTs he got were about 1400F and never got close to the 1700F that cause problems while towing. I initially wanted the SCT but didn't want to wait that long so I order the SC. Hopefully I will get it by this weekend so I can do a side by side comparison with my SC.

Probably not going to try the higher octane tunes. The superchips high octane tune that I tried definitely had more power than the superchips 87, but my mpg took a nosedive then, even with babying it. Based on the dyno results, I have no doubt the 93 sct tune rocks, but I'm sticking to 87 octane.
I'm taking a trip this weekend and I'll update as soon as I can.

I can't answer for boosted150 but I ordered mine from 5Star on Friday the 15th and had it on my door step Monday the 18th. I installed the 87 tune Monday night and have only driven the truck to work and back today. The truck drives great and has much improved power. It feels more like a diesel now with much improved low end torque. The fuel mileage didn't seem to increase or decrease but I only drove to work and back 30 miles each way and mostly highway. That being said my mileage has been lower than most ecoboost mileage I read about on the forum. My lifetime average is around 15.5 and that is about 30/70 city/HWY.
