It is definitely loud and if you don't like loud I would not recommend it. It is not straight pipe loud though. I think people just have different ideas of what drone is and tolerances for engine noise. The only way to tell if you are going to like is to hear for yourself. I went back and listened to the video and there sound quality of the video is bad. There engine noise sounds right to me but their road noise is unusually loud which I think misrepresents the balance of noise. I will try to do a video with my cell phone to give people an idea of what it sound like but not sure if my videos sound will be much better.

I don't know if I am crazy or changing the exhaust messed up the computer but I seem to be getting better gas mileage. I mean 2-4 mpg better. I used the better gas mileage excuse to convince my wife to let me buy and change the exhaust but I thought I was just BSing her. I did not think changing the exhaust would actually effect gas mileage significantly. The only thing I could think of was that maybe I am easier on the gas when I can hear it. Did anyone else notice any difference?

Glad you like yours, I'm literally baffled, though, with guys on here saying they aren't experiencing any drone. What's the deal with that? Surely Bskouby and I aren't the only ones. Bskouby - keep me posted as to what you do or if you ever get a better combination than what you're currently running. I'm not opposed to tweaking a little more down the road, but the difference between you and me is that I have to pay the labor each time I want to change mine up. I think that's what has really aggravated me about this whole process. Each time I want to try something different more money goes out the window. In my opinion Roush's in-cabin video is misleading. Now I really do wish I would have done the video and submitted it to them for an explanation...

I guess the "drone" is subjective. When I first installed the exhaust I thought it was great. Then I hit the interstate and spent time between 1800 and 2000 RPMs. Not so great.

When I got back home from my trip I took my "road pipes" off and put my "loud pipes" back on. It takes me about 15 minutes to swap the factory resonator out with the Roush pipe. Running around town and keeping it below 60 on the highway the drone is tolerable.

I guess what it comes down to is what you like. Here is what I have tried:

1. Roush kit installed as is. Drone is terrible at 1800+ RPM. Overall the sound outside the truck is great, really get's the pulse racing.
2. Added MRBP 4" resonator. Cut the drone some, still present, and changed the exhaust note a bit....not sure I liked that.
3. Added factory resonator into Roush system. Made the exhaust sound very mellow and deep. Barely louder than stock at 1800 RPM +. Sounds nice and deep external, but not really different than any other mellow aftermarket exhaust. Verdict? Boring.

What it comes down to is that I would like to find a system that is mellow when you are keeping your foot out of it, doesn't drone, but will scream when you want it too. I have told my wife several times, the loudness of the pipes don't bother me, but the drone (frequency) just wants to make me rip my ears off my head.

Yes, I noticed this as well. I get the best mileage (if I keep my foot out of it) running the Roush kit. If I add the stock resonator back in it drops back down to what I was getting with the full OEM system. For some strange reason, the MBRP resonator setup cause a largest hit in fuel econ.

All in all what I noticed is in the 1 - 2 MPG range across the three configurations I have ran.

I have been following this thread as I am having trouble deciding whether I want to Roush or the Borla ATAQ system for my 5.0. My experience has been that Corsa based systems are the only aftermarket setups with no drone. However, they don't achieve the kind of sound that I like.

Based on what I am reading here, I am leaning towards the Borla ATAQ system. I have had Borla systems before and the general rule has been that they drone a bit but are manageable. Drone could become an issue since we don't exactly have flat highways here in Alaska as there are always hills going up and down.

This is the best I could do with my phone. It is hard to get good audio capture on a regular consumer device like this.

This is with the windows up.

That is the full blow Roush. No resonator, stock or otherwise.

I'm interested in purchasing a used Roush system for a 5.0 SCREW.
