It is...quad cab is 10,350 lbs depending on configuration. Regular cabs are 9,250 depending on configuration so maybe they just pulled that number out from a regular cab standpoint.

0-60 in 9 seconds What a dog haha

Be interesting to see what the aftermarket would do with it though, tear out all the emissions crap, retune, etc it may get great mileage and make some good power. I still don't think its going to be a big seller, but who knows.

I bet it will be good for performance, especially with how popular diesel performance is now days

Why does everyone say it's the first 1/2 ton with a diesel? GM had them for years with the 6.2 and later with the 6.5. You could get a 1/2 ton GM diesel as recent as 1998. Granted, the 6.5 and especially the 6.2 were gutless and unreliable but they did get decent mpg.

As for the Ram, I need to drive one to draw my own conclusions but they have my interest. Roman and Nathan need to do the Ike gauntlet with the ecodiesel!

Weren't they in the 2500 and 3500 only? I can't remember. I did have a light duty 3500 (not dually) with the 6.2.

The eco diesel will not be the pure performer that the eb is stock vs stock. But I'm willing to bet it will have better mpg while towing vs the eb as well as better mileage all around.

Yes, you could get them in the 1500 chevy and gmc as well as the suburban and two door blazer, tahoe. 1994 was the first year that you could get a turbo on one.

'78-81 was the first light duty diesel. It was the 5.7 olds diesel and a POS. '82 the came out with the 6.2. Gm used that motor until 95 or 96. 92ish they came out with the 6.5 NA. In 94 it was an option for the turbo and by 95-96 that was the only diesel option. GM produced the turbo 6.5 until 2000 but 98 was the last year available for the 1/2 tons.

There were actually quite a few around here at one point despite the low production numbers. Most of the diesels were in the 3/4 and 1 tons.

Even aftermarket vs aftermarket the eb will still hold its own, they're still both Forced induction engines, so they'll both respond to mods and tuning great

Another plus is, as EB owners, we don't have to mess with any EGR, DPF, or DEF issues. We also don't have to worry about fuel gelling problems when it gets cold. I still want to drive an ecodiesel just to say I did.
