Default Question for Ecoboost owners

I was Bob is the oil guy website and ran into this http://www.bgfueltest.com. The were using a bore scope on a Taurus 3.5L and found the PCV venting into the intake without the benefit of air/gas mixture was causing a lot of deposits. If this topic has been discussed here I guess I missed it. I'm curious if any of your Eco guys were running PCV block-offs or things like that.

I don't think you can just block it off but a catch can is a good idea. As for the article, I don't doubt thats happening. There's a ton of oil in the intake tubing on my truck. It leaks from the CAC as well. I guess time will tell.

Yeah, it's an interesting problem. I looked around on the internet and found an article by car&driver http://backfires.caranddriver.com/fo...rect-injection which has some good info. I think I would block off the intake side PCV and vent the engine side to a screen.

It's not just the ecoboost. A lot of engines have this issue. Still haven't figured out why the factory's don't install catch cans.

So it won't last so long that you don't buy another in 5 years.
