Question before i buy ecoboost
Fixing to buy 2012 ecoboost, maybe. I am selling my 2004 f150. Want to purchase a ecoboost. I was hoping for a 2011 FX4 or platinum but those are hard to come by. Been doing some research here and it seems only big trouble is idling trouble. But wondered if any of you could give me any other advise or issues you might have. A dealership in colorado is offering me a brand new 2012 eco with supercrew and 4 wheel drive for 34500. That seems to be the best price i can find so far. Just the basic package i believe. Any help would be great got a lot of help for my 2004 on this site. Thanks

That is the price I paid for my FX4 one year ago. As far as the EB goes I wouldn't worry too much about problems. There have been some and I have had the dreaded shudder but I imagine 99% are basically problem free. You will read a lot of stuff on these forums and it all sounds bad but remember 99% of people who post are looking for solutions to a problem. There are very few folks out there who are posting while the vast majority of EB owners have never even looked at a forum because they don't have any issues or aren't interested in the aftermarket stuff. Bottom line is buy one, you won't regret it.

depends on where you are and what rebates are available in your area I guess. I know the fully loaded fx4 are around 40ish. however I've seen the base fx4 without leather or nav for 33k. If it was me 10k off sticker is about what most people shoot for

Keepin' the lights on!
If that is what you want then get it. I wouldn't worry too much about problems either. I am informed about multiple issues but I don't worry about them. 4300 miles. Bought it the 1st of may this year. Not sure if it's the hot weather or what but I can really feel a difference running 91 vs. 87 ( most places here have 86 ). The worst it has ever ran is when I fuelled it with non-ethanol gas but I think it was just bad gas all around.
What are your plans for your new truck? Towing? What wb are you looking at getting?
Not sure how close it is to you but I think I got a good deal in Cortez, CO.

I have had my EcoBoost for 29000 miles now and the only thing I had done was taking it back to dealership for transmission reflashed. I had a weird shift below 15MPH which was covered by a TSB. Around town I get 17ish (Lariat, SCREW, 4x4, 3.73). The worst I have gotten is when I pull heavier trailer around 7000lbs at Interstate speeds (10.5MPG). I love this truck and don't regret my purchase. I have never had the idle issue you speak of.
