I just did a 422 mile round trip from south central pa to western pa. I would say that 85% highway. I hit 19 mpg at one point but when I got in the mountains on interstate 68 in md it dropped to 16.4 mpg. With 3000 miles on the truck my overall mileage at this point is 15.2 mpg. I had my cruise set at 68 mph. I still believe I have a miss or studder at 65-70 mph. No codes or cel.

I do pretty well with my 5.0 & 3.73's. Might be the exhaust but with the cruise set at 75, I can get a little over 20 mpgs. I get 17.9 with mixed hwy/city driving. I think the 5.0 likes the 3.73.

EPA test's at Highway speeds is a average of 48 mph. Max of 80. But the average is 48.

Look at page 2.

You guys are talking about 3.73 rear ends. Mine came with a 3.55 rear end. How will that affect my milage. I don't plan on ever towing.

I have the 3:55's in an 11 screw 4x4. The mileage over the 3:73's is barely noticeable, there are many new ford trucks where I work and when we compare mileage between the two you will only see about 1 mpg better, on good day. At 115 kmph i get a steady 22mpg, that's on a full tank to and from work with 90% highway. I work 75km from home.

hey i have 2013 fx4 screwand 3.55 gears. the truck has 20 in wheels with 33x12.50 on it and was wondering if anyone with similar wheels on was getting reasonable mpg's? gonna throw the factories back on to see but dealer thought after 1000 miles it would get around 18 to 20 mpg with the big tires

given its winter still and mostly doing short trips i only get like13 right now its gotten up to 15.4 on a 200 mile round trip. i really dont get into ever maybe taking it up to 2500 to 3000 rpms. really curious on a programmer that wont void my warranty for the eco boost. i see exhaust does decent for them but i do not want it makin lots of noise or i would have got the 5.0. any info would help alot

After reading about similar EcoBoost owners getting over 20 mpg, I was curious if there is something the service dept. could check/adjust to up mileage. Although my in town driving can deliver 15-16 mpg, I would like to get the "advertised" fuel economy. Love the truck, just want better mpg.
Thanks
You will never see 20+ mpg doing 70+ unless you are going down hill. Ford does not promise this and do not expect to see it. Also take what you read here with a grain of salt. People tend to exaggerate to support their "purchase choices". Take the best and the worst of what you read here and the truth is somewhere in between!

If I had to describe why she gets crap mpg, I would say that it has to do with not knowing when to "coast", not being able to predict the behavior of slow moving traffic (ie: knowing when to creep forward at idle, and knowing when to push on the gas), and knowing how far to depress the throttle when accelerating on the highway, without causing the transmission to downshift. I know it all seems petty and stupid, but it's the little things that account for the extra 2-3 mpg.
I've found this to be dead-on. I've had nearly this exact experience.
