5.0L intake talk
Doing some reading on the forum and not really getting real feedback so I figured I would ask.
Looking to upgrade my stock intake on my 12 FX4 with the 5.0L. Now I am coming from Dodge trucks and know what intakes are good for them but not the Ford ..
I am looking for the best CAI and looking to see what you all run and recommend for the same truck. Looking to see real numbers like HP, MPG, and TQ if you have them form what ever intake you run.
What is better .. I read closed box like the Volant is better to keep IAT temps low .. but some get better results with the open.
What ya say guys .. love to hear your recommendations.

Look up 5 star tuning, they have dyno graphs on several mods like the Boss 302 intake, with CAI, and exhaust. Gives you an idea of how much power to expect with each new mod.

Sorry I guess I should have been clearer .. not looking for a intake .. a CAI .. cold air intake. Just a filter box replacement ect .. No other mods

Not much power to be had. You will see some more results with the 5.0 after a tune, not just because of tuning but because they gains you see with the intake will only be in the very top end of the engine and a tuner will raise the shift points to an rpm range that using the extra power. Keep in mind that this is still very little gains.
I bought the bully dog intake because of it's quality design, good price and closed top design to keep water out.

Ya , I dont want to do a tune as I only have 500 miles on the truck and would hate to void warranty. Just thought a CAI would net me a few MPG's and better throttle response.

You're not going to increase your MPG with an intake. The only mods that help with MPH on these trucks is the driver mod. Drive for better fuel economy. Keep it maintained, i.e. proper or higher tire pressure. A exhaust won't help MPG either.

2012-FX4 - Hmm .. so the rousch intake and the volant are just a wast of money then is what you are saying ?
There will/would be very little performance gains without a tune, and even then it would not (IMO) be co$t justified.
After-market CAI cons ...
- less filtration (only way to increase airflow).
- oiled air filters can/do increase the probability of contaminating the MAF (there goes the performance and MPG)
etc., etc., etc..
Only way to measure any possible performance ...

OK then .. what ever that means ^^ LOL
So I guess coming from Dodge where the stock box and tube was a terrible restriction Ford does not have this issue I assume.
And why would I take out my headlight ?? You lost me there .
I will just stick with a K&N drop in filter then
