Oil Change Warning Light
I just switched from blended oil to full synthetic, and my mechanic recommends changing the oil at 7000-7500 miles. My dashboard idiot light is programmed to start warning me at 4000 miles. Can the change interval be reprogrammed to 7000 miles in the ECU by an outside mechanic or does the truck have to go to a dealer? If it can be reprogrammed what tool is required? If it can't be reprogrammed, can the warning sensor be disabled? It comes on and has to be manually turned off every time I start up, which is annoying. Well duh, if it wasn't annoying me it wouldn't be warning me. Thanks.

It's based off a percentage, not mileage. Do you know if the oil life monitor reset to 100% after the last oil change?

It's based on more than percentage and mileage.
